BUG review
The Dolphin Lodge is a small house with a quiet atmosphere. It has spacious dorms with thick mattresses and attractive artwork on the walls. There are a couple of small lounges with a log fire, a TV, internet access, and a dining room with large etched-glass windows looking out over the bay. The kitchen is average, but the bathrooms are very nice and clean. Outside there is a garden with hammocks, a nice deck with a barbecue and spa pool. Guests also have free use of bicycles. It is warm and homely, with management to match.

nice little hostel just 2minutes walk to all amenities. Small little village, couldn't get to see the whales and dolphins as the sea was very bad so will have to come back to this town again.

This is an excellent medium sized hostel (20 or do beds). The owners Connor and Anna create a really friendly welcoming atmosphere along with their cats Socks and ?. Felt at home straight away as Anna took us round the hostel explaining everything. Very keen on recycling which is good to see. They have free bikes and a free spa which both work (the spa being next to the large deck which looks out over the sea and the mountains). Our last night there was a cold one and they lit the log burner which was fantastic. The TV room is small and plain for those that want it.ps. You need at least 3 nights in Kaikoura as there is so much more activities than simply whalewatching and Dolphin Swimming. The Quadbiking was great!

Great views, reasonably priced and helpful staff. A hot spa too. Very good for recycling too! Very close to everything but because its on a hill (only a little one) you feel like you're away from the bustle. Good selection of books. Nice small dorms. TV room is a bit grim but thats it on the downside. When i went there were homemade muffins too. Would definatley go back.
