BUG review
Aqua Lodge consists of three houses on a residential street a few minutes’ walk from the town centre, near the cricket stadium. One of the houses is generally used by long-term guests. Each building has its own kitchen (with dishwasher) and common areas. Cleanliness and maintenance varies throughout the property, but things are generally on the tattered and worn side. There’s an outside yard with tables and a barbecue and a swimming pool (which didn’t look all that inviting when we visited). Still, there’s a friendly and social atmosphere to the place.

About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.

We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.

this wasn't the best hostel that i have stayed in, but it was good. the people working there were really nice and helpful. there were 3 buildings, so it was easy to find a good room to hang out in, no matter what mood you were in. most of the people staying there appeared to be fruit pickers (maybe) and living there as well. everyone was nice and the bed was comfortable. what more could you ask for.

I spend a few months in this Hostel and the owner is very helpful. He can help you to fine a job, to fix your car, to give you a lift to work ... And with 3 houses, it's like at home ... It's not a 'big building' !!

Napier is a great place to stay in winter and to find a job.
