BUG review
Even though it’s got an Art Deco façade, Toad Hall is set in a building that actually predates the earthquake that levelled most of Napier. It’s an old hotel, and while it has a friendly vibe, it’s poorly maintained. There’s a kitchen and a TV lounge with old, mismatched furniture. The best area is definitely the rooftop patio, which has decent views over the city. Dorms are small, with only two beds (and a couple with three), but these too are pretty tired. Free laundry and free internet on a single PC (and pay Wi-Fi) are pluses.

Toad Hall is owned by two brothers and operated by their lovely mother Queenie who is boss second only to Arnie the beautiful and friendly cream burmese cat. Great place for long term stays. Cheap weekly rates. some single rooms with en suite. Directly beside and above delicious Hell's Pizzas

As a backpacker its a great change to find single accomadation at an affordable price. All rooms are single, twin, double or one bunk dorms so no overcrowding. Staff are very friendly and helpful, I was even collected me from the Airport. After staying in two other hostels in Napier (different visits) I find Toad Hall a breath of fresh air, good fun but also space to ´chill out´ - well recommended.

Toad Hall is a fun place to be at. Its two Danish managers are full of life and organise a number of excursions for guests and able to give great advice (with photos) of places to go and see. It has been recently rennovated and has a number of outside areas to relax in the sun, including a roof top garden overlooking the sea. The down stairs bar was closed when we were there for rennovations, but I understand is being turned into a friendly "travellers" pub. All in all a fun place with fun people.
