BUG review
Riverside is a motor camp (caravan park) with an eight-bed dorm plus some beds in caravans available to backpackers. There’s not much atmosphere here, although rooms and shared facilities are uncommonly clean for a motor camp. The bathroom is spotless, with a frilly little skirt running the length of the stainless steel sink. The kitchen is clean as well, and there’s a whimsical barbecue (called the “Barbie Q”) set in the boot of a fake old 50s Chevy. Facilities are otherwise pretty limited, and showers are coin-operated, but there aren’t many options in Wairoa, so it’s worth a look if you find yourself needing a place to stay in town.
About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.
We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.
