BUG review
The Alpine Backpackers is in an arch-shaped building right in the heart of Ohakune. It is connected to the Alpine Motel and Sassi’s Restaurant, and frankly feels like an afterthought to both. It is as basic as possible with a small kitchen and TV set just about the only facilities. Rooms are basic and small as well. It is, like all of Ohakune, much busier during the winter than the summer.

I have been to much nicer backpackers! The security wasn't very good, and the whole place lacked any character. Having said this, the whole procedure of checking in was painless. It could benefit with a seperate lounge and kitchen because presently there is nowhere comfy to sit! Thinking about it, there were very few utensils or plates and the TV was crap. All of the problems were offset by the phenominal view of a supermarket car park!
