BUG review
This is the last place to stay, eat and fill up the tank before heading the final, unpaved 21km north to Cape Reinga, and there is a real end-of-the-road feeling to Waitiki Landing. The basic dorms and common areas in the main structure are about as tired and droopy as they come. Rooms in the log cabin are significantly nicer, however, and there are camping facilities as well. A restaurant serves food until 8pm, a bar stays open later, and there’s an off-licence and grocery store on the premises. Hot showers are $1 a pop. The Waitiki Landing can arrange different Cape Reigna/Ninety Mile Beach tours, hikes, quad bike rentals, and more.

Word of caution: Waitiki Landing does not reliably have petrol; it’s wiser to fill up back in Pukenui.

If you want a farm yard experience, Waitiki will not fail you in that department. From the laid back local farmers who are kind enough to leave their muddy gumboots at the door, to the animals who casual walk through the restaurant looking to share your meal (namely - a goat, a cat, lambs and dogs). It would definately be an experience that you will never forget.
