BUG review
Hideaway Lodge is a caravan park and hostel that’s good at finding temporary work for travellers. Dorms are decent-sized and come with a refrigerator, but overall the facilities and common areas are in poor shape. There’s a swimming pool, a TV lounge and a barbecue area, but all the furnishings are old and falling apart. A small shop sells canned and packaged food in the reception. Daily rides into town are free; transport to jobs is offered for $3 round trip.

An excellent atmosphere an owner who will do his very best for you, work is a sure thing anytime of year. The fixtures and fittings are tired looking but IT IS CHEAP. All in all a great place to stay longterm when saving money for further travels

I chose to stay at hideaway, because of the promise of finding people work. this, they did, and from what everyone there did, they were very good at. But so are the other hostels in kerikeri. The buildings were old and damp, the area was overgrown and dirty. the kitchens and toilets, well, i couldnt bring myself to use them. I paid for a week. $86. i left after one night. Without a refund, but i didnt care. If you read my review of aranga, its shows i was very glad with the decision i made, and for only an extra $8 per week.

Sorry, but this hostel is the worst I've stayed in while traveling in New Zealand. Bathrooms are often VERY dirty, kittchen equipement is sometimes used as an ashtray, and some of the matresses in my room were rotten and old. The room was cold with no properly closing windows. And about the price- you can stay in a good hostel and pay just 16 $more per week!
