BUG review
Mayfair Lodge is Paihia’s smallest hostel, with just 25 beds. It’s set in an old motel right next door to the Woolworths supermarket on the north side of town, away from the Kings Road hostels. Dorms and common areas are brightly painted with colourful images of sailboats and fishes. Everything is very clean and looked after, if a bit basic. A covered patio offers all-weather outdoor living and there’s a pool table inside as well as a TV lounge and the usual assortment of games and puzzles. Guests also have use of free bikes, kayaks, and fishing gear. It’s not as new and feature-rich as some of the other hostels in town, but the Mayfair offers a quieter alternative.

Listen guys if your going to Paihia, STAY HERE. It is SO close to the grocery store (quite literally next door), It's only a 15 minute walk from all the bars and resteraunts and shops, and the people here are amazing.
George and Katherine (the owners) are amazing. I came here planning to stay for 3 nights but ended up staying for 2 months. Everything about this place is just, awesome. I love the all-weather ourdoor hangout, even when it's pissing rain it is nice to be able to get some fresh air. The owners keep the place clean and not only is it good for young backpackers here to party for a shortwhile, or work for a long time, it's also great for the entire family.
I give this hostel the best rating I can possibly give it. It's nice to be able to wake up in the morning and walk a mere 2 minutes to the beach. LOVE THIS PLACE.

Fantastic location just outside the main centre. The owners are so friendly and helped us make the most of the short time we had in the Bay of Islands by booking us on all the activities at the last minute. Very laid back and relaxing place with plenty of room to chill out. Great value aswell.

Since it is a little ways out side the downtown core it tends to attract a much more selective group of people. If you are wanting to go scuba diving while in Paihai I would recommend going here, they will be able to hook you up with the right people so you can have a really great scuba diving experience. They are excellent hosts who make anyone feel very welcome. With a grocery store right next door shopping is convenient.
