BUG review
This small cottage sleeps up to seven in three rooms: the Blue Room, the Gold Room, and the “Sunshine Supervan”, a groovy 1950s caravan set up in the backyard. The cottage itself is cluttered but in a cosy way, filled with books and all sorts of interesting knick-knacks. Barry, the owner, is a fount of local knowledge and history. Actually, many pieces of the cottage have an interesting history of their own; the fireplace, for instance, was salvaged from the original Bank of New Zealand. The Pukeko is a swamp hen common to New Zealand, in case you were wondering.
About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.
We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.
