BUG review
Whangarei Falls Backpackers is part of a holiday park and motor camp right next to the waterfall and walking trails, about 5km from the city centre. There’s a good range of facilities on the property, including a swimming pool, spa pool, trampoline, and a big covered barbecue area with picnic tables. Bunk rooms are clean and basic. There’s a decent kitchen and a simple TV lounge with books, puzzles, and games and coin-operated internet PCs. Sharing space with the motor camp doesn’t give it much of a typical hostel feel, but it’s a pleasant enough place.

Stayed here for one night before I went diving the Poor Knight Islands. It has a good kitchen, excellent BBQ facilities, Hot Spa bath and a pool.

It was all very nice and clean and I would recommend it to anyone. The only downside was that the rooms get quite cold during the night, and this was during summer.

We found Whangarei falls backpackers to be very clean and well presented with just about everything you need. Nice big cabins are a bonus and the owners are some of the most helpful that we have found on our travels. Free pool, spa and BBQ and big outdoor eating area are all very good. Even gave us a free ride from the bus stop, cant be bad!!!!

Whangareifalls is not just a backpacker. The owners are always friendly and helpful! Also the facilities are great: a pool, a spa pool, a large sitting room, library, internet facilities 24h per day, BBQ etc. want more can a traveller want?!
