BUG review
This is a cosy and homely hostel with nicely maintained rooms not far from the town centre. Shared rooms have comfortable beds made up with duvets. There is a small living room with sofas and log fire and there are also tree-filled gardens with pleasant places to chill out

Arrowtown is 20 minutes from Queenstown and is a great place to stay if you cant get accommodation there or avoid the adventure capital of the world, as it like to call itself, madding crowds. Arrowtown is a gold rush town and they have gentrified the main streets in the late nineteenth century style. Its a nice laidback town where you can enjoy its café culture and fab restaurants (I would heartily recommend Pesto) or stroll along the Arrow river. Its actually a lot nearer many of the high adrenalin activities than Queenstown.

I would highly recommend Poplar Lodge, Arrowtown. Both Jackie and Adin are seasoned travellers (Jackies photographs of her travels adorn the walls which gives it a lovely homely touch) so they get the essentials right its clean and has great showers. But Poplar Lodge goes way beyond budget traveller expectations. It has a large landscaped garden, there are barbecues on Christmas Day and expert advice is provided on what to see and do around Arrowtown.

My friend and I stayed here for two nights and definately enjoyed our stay. It is very close to the main street of Arrowtown, a 2 minute walk at the most. The hostel is spacious, very clean and offers a relaxing environment to unwind. Staying here, you don't feel like you're in a massive backpackers hostel, but rather at home since it doesn't accomodate more than 15 or 18. I would definately recommend staying here, it's a great alternative to staying in Queenstown which is only 20 min. away.
