BUG review
Wanaka YHA is New Zealand's second-oldest YHA hostel. Although it's a clean hostel, it shows its age. Facilities include a common area with a fireplace and a cat called Bernie plus the usual kitchen and TV lounge.

We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.

We stayed in the Wanaka YHA twice for a length of 10 days. Very nice hostel with good facilities. The staff were friendly and so were all the guests. Would recommend.

Chilled out relaxing hostel. Set back from the town in quiet street. Close to the town and lake. Staggering distance over the green from any of the bars. Management very willing to please, will even offer a mallet and advise on how to put a tent up! A place to stay longer than anticipated, even to return too!
