BUG review
This place is in a lodge in a holiday park. It is very well maintained and offers a wide range of facilities, including laundry, spa pool, sauna and a barbecue area. The dorms are neat and spacious with new carpet, and bathrooms are clean. There is also a large well equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, internet access and a good lounge area with Sky TV and a log fire. It is a few minutes outside the town centre.

A clean, friendly and comfortable hostel.
19 March 2009

Pros: Situation, maintenance, security, cleanliness.
Cons: The people who don't leave the kitchen clean, on occasions.

A clean, friendly, relaxed and well maintained hostel in part of a larger complex. A short walk to town, but the lake and DOC's office is just across the road. Tracknet, the bus service, is part of it, and makes travel arrangements easy.

Miserable, institutional suburbia; dully functional and prisonlike
25 February 2008

Pros: Clean, easy to find, sometimes has space
Cons: A prison

This "hostel" consists of endless lines of barracklike doubles and "cabins" jammed shoulder to shoulder, each equipped with paper-thin walls and heavy, slam-prone doors. The obvious assumption is that everyone staying here is a scumbag: in some of the kitchens, you have to pay to rent cooking utensils because obviously you'd just steal them otherwise. (The signs make this clear.) The staff is curt and barely civil. Although SB is clean enough, their kitchens are no better than any other hostel's, with the mandatory nonfunctional can openers and dull knives. Stay here only if everything else is full; me myself, I'd rather have a real hostel.

This is a great hostel well located. Staff were awesome. It wasn't too busy when we were there, so we had no complaints about noise, etc. Given the nature of the corridors, this may be a problem during busier times, though
