BUG review
This hostel is right next to the Catlins Beach House. The hostel is quaint and intimate inside, with nice furnishings and a well equipped kitchen. The shared rooms are simple and comfortable and there is a good common area with a log fire. It is an older building, but it has character and there is a very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The beach is steps away.

This place is absolutely wonderful! The cottage has a living area with large kitchen, dining table and a cosy corner with sofa and fireplace. There are 1 dormitory with 4 bunk beds, 1 queen room (55$) and 1 double ensuite in which my wife and I stayed in early september (for 80$ including linen and towel, 70$ without). The house lies at the margin of the beach and the view of this wild corner of the world is absolutely amazing. Inside, it looks very new, well kept, all the common and private areas are spotlessly clean and warm. The area is remote so better bring your food and cook in the nice and well equipped kitchen. Lucky people will also meet penguins just meters away at the beach. This place is definitely worth a stay!

Accommodation literally drops onto the beach to a fantasitic vista. Very tidy, homely, log fire, newish, clean. It's the best value I've ever come across and would urge people to digress as it's central in the Catlins
