BUG review
Anchor Lodge is an excellent hostel with accommodation ranging from dorm rooms to high-end self-contained units. Everything is relatively new and kept in top shape. Facilities include a good kitchen, TV lounge, and internet access (including Wi-Fi). Backpackers can also rub shoulders with the rest of the guests, some of whom are towing massive boats, around the great swimming pool or in the tropical-themed “Ooga Booga Hut”. There’s also a spa pool and a nice outdoor deck with a barbecue. The Anchor Lodge is right across the road from Coromandel Harbour and out back is some nice native bush.

My friend and I drove in from Auckland and caught the guy before he left his office around 11pm. Was kind enough to show us the backpackers and was pleasant for such a late hour. Clean, friendly, very accomodating, would stay there again!

I stayed at the Anchor Lodge last year. The hostel was brand new at that time, so everything was really nice and clean! The kitchen was great also! The best thing about the hostel were the owners! They were absolutely friendly and helpful. They even gave us a ride in their car to the other side of the peninsula and showed us some awesome beaches! It was probably the best hostel on our 2 months trip!
