BUG review
Lion’s Den is a very cool, funky, cluttered-in-a-good-way hostel with a whimsical safari motif. All the bedspreads have lion prints on them and there’s safari art and prints and knickknacks spread around the house. Inside, a nice kitchen is well laid out and there’s a big solid dining table. Dorm rooms are pleasant and comfortable with lots of character. A common room has a TV and heaps of magazines lying around. There’s plenty of cool outdoor space too; with lots of plants, flowers, fruit trees, fairy lights and Tibetan prayer flags strung up. It’s definitely a hostel with an uncommon amount of personality.

I had the pleasure of spending 4 days here in April 05. You are made to feel welcome, by Lynda, the hostess, and she will show you around, make sure you are comortable and is always willing to show you the local attractions-such as the stream full of eels! The place is beautiful, you feel like you are in the middle of another world, when, in fact, you are a five minute walk from town centre! The BEST place to stay in Coromandal and free pancakes! What more could you ask for?!

We - myself, husband and 3 yr old son stayed for one night. This was the most relaxing place we have probably ever stayed in, it's very special. Highlights were the family sized hammock over the river, feeding the local (monstrously huge) eels and waking to delicious free pancakes, cooked by Lynda, the host. If you get the chance, stay here.

OMG! You have to stay here! Linda (the owner) is so friendly and has some amazing art of her own to show off, not to mention the seafood platter that she cooks up for a very reasonable price. The Lions Den is THE best place to stay in the Coromandel.

stayed here for one night-more like living in someone's home than a hostel. Very cosy feel to place, clean and well equipped.the owner cooked a huge snapper fish and mussels on the barby that night for us free of charge. Was great way of getting everyone round the table talking.
