BUG review
Set among big grounds with extensive gardens, Tui Lodge is a very nice hostel a little under 1km from the town centre. There are a couple of separate buildings, two kitchens, a big gazebo out in the front yard and different fruit trees including apple, feijoa, grapefruit and orange. Guests have free use of nice mountain bikes, and there’s also a trampoline and small sauna on site. A wide range of accommodation is available, ranging from tent sites to self-contained motel units; the backpacker dorms are clean and feature good mattresses. There are even a couple of mattresses set up in the gazebo for al fresco sleeping.

Home away from Home - best hostel I've stayed in.
24 February 2006

Pros: Friendly hosts, comfortable & cheap accommodation
Cons: Hostel in a very quiet area so don'y expect a big nightlife

4 of us stayed here for 4 days in February. There were no dorm beds left so we were offered a double and a twin room at $25 per person - excellent value. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable and the doors locked securely. The facilities here are excellent - the kitchen was very big and had loads of plates, cutlery, pots and utensils. The showers had hot water and had a good stream of water. The laundry was free to use! There is an orchard where you are welcome to pick your own fruit and the gardens are so relaxing and peaceful. There is 2 hammocks, a trampoline, swing chairs and a summer house. There are games and jigsaws for the guests use and a book exchange, free use of the mountain bikes and ther is even an outdoor sauna!

The hosts are so friendly and couldn't do enough to help. We had a wonderful time staying here and would defintely recomment it to anyone. There was a good mix of people staying here with both young and old travellers.
