BUG review
The Cats Pyjamas is on the site of a former hostel called Buffalo Peaks. There used to be another Cats Pyjamas in Whitianga, the original, but it closed. The owners of Buffalo Peaks then bought the name. Confused? That’s the point – the old Cats Pyjamas had a better reputation and good guidebook write-ups. Anyway, tricky naming aside, the present hostel is not too bad. Dorms are kind of crowded, but there’s a big, comfy common room and a brick courtyard area with a barbecue and spa pool. They’re clearly trying to give it a bit of a social atmosphere, with $5 barbecue meals and a wall for backpackers to decorate. There’s internet and Wi-Fi access and guests have free use of body boards.

I really liked this place, it was small and cosy, really warm quilts, and we had a really good BBQ out the back, Went on to Smittys bar down the road where they have a brilliant Karaoke!

This is more or less an average hostel. It has a nice kitchen and a small hot pool. The rooms and bathrooms are somewhat clean but the beds are certainly not the best ones.
