BUG review
This hostel offers a good standard of accommodation in a huge restored farmhouse. It features animal themed dorm rooms and it has a good kitchen and dining area that gets quite lively at night. There is also a comfy TV room and two levels of wraparound verandas with wooden furniture and a backyard garden with hammocks. The bathrooms are average, but the showers are great. It is in the centre of town and has a good atmosphere. They offer free use of mountain bikes, internet access (including Wi-Fi), a spa pool, and free pick up from the bus station. Staff are helpful and attentive.

About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.

We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.

My bf and I stayed here for one night in May, in a double room (the zebra room.) The room was nice, with comfy double bed and lots of zebra inspired deco! The owner/guy at reception was friendly and layed back. The hostel was clean and comfy (nice warm log fires) The kitchen was great (new cutlery and plates etc...), and the bathroom was good. The TV room is great with a huge TV and lots of movies to choose from. A close walk into 'downtown' Greymouth and the grocery store. Over all a good hostel.

Good location, clean facilities, and fun animal themed-rooms (I was a sheep) make for happy backpackers.
