BUG review
This hostel is in a small house in a residential area not far from the centre. It has a small untidy kitchen and a common area with old furniture. The dorms are ordinary, with single beds and duvets. There is a lounge and laundry facilities. There is free tea and coffee but there is no internet access. This hostel is currently changing ownership, so it should see some changes in the near future.

About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.

We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.

Right on the beach and a short walk to the town centre and 20 minutes to the gloworm dell - Don't miss that. The hosts are very friendly and helpful.

This Hostel is no longer called Sea Side , but now named Just Jade Experience as well the owners are jade carvers and run a very popular Jade Carving experience, where tourists can be hands on and design and help create their own jade carving. good value for money. The hostel is an old style house and the owners have kept it looking like a home away from home , you can stay 1 or 2 days there, or if you like the laid back lifestyle of Hokitika stay a week or more like we did
