BUG review
Pukekura is a good place to stop for a night on the way to the glaciers. Attractions here include the Bushman’s Centre – a great little museum – and a cheap restaurant with famous possum pies. Across the street is an excellent historic pub full of antiques and old photographs – almost a museum in itself. Accommodation is rustic but well maintained, with good beds made up with nice-looking duvets and ceiling-hung mosquito nets. There is a small kitchen that is old but fairly well equipped and a dining table with a TV. Management are knowledgeable and friendly.
About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.
We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.
