BUG Review
This hostel is in a great location just off the main street in Byron. It is spacious and modern, but a bit rough around the edges. There is a large rooftop sundeck looking onto the street and the kitchen is fresh and clean, but the dorms are sparse and the bathrooms are in disrepair. They have a small swimming pool, but it can get murky. They are one of the only hostels that offers an hour of free internet. Reception staff are enormously friendly and helpful.

We had to go here because we had a voucher with our travel package and we were dreading it becuse of the reviews. Well a lot has changed or we were in the wrong place cos we had a good time. It was mostly very clean and the kitchen was great. But the people, staff and a group of backpackers who seem to have been there along time were really cool and welcoming. No bugs and drop dead gorgeous cleaner didnt start till 11.

if you dont mind not getting any sleep due to the proximity to the huge bar on the corner and people coming back at 3-4 in the morning or filthy bathrooms come on in!oh yeah and they have the workers clean the rooms at like 7 am every morning so you get woken up by vaccuums in your room after only a couple hours sleep-they make sure theyre extra noisy about it too since you get to sleep and they have to clean after a night of drinking.seriously-if you come here dont say you werent warned..

It's what you expect when you are in Byron Bay. I stayed in the 16 bed dorm and it was quiet which i didn't expect and it had air conditioning which helped. Social place - good for meeting people but not very clean, the kitchen is mediocre at best but location is good.

Definitely the worst hostel I have ever stayed at.

We arrived and were put in a 6 bed dorm which seemed alright, until we awoke the next day to be covered in bites. It turned out that the brazilian guy in our room had complained of bed bugs the night before we arrived yet the hostel staff allowed us to sleep in the room anyway. Not only had we been bitten badly by the bugs but they had managed to get in all our bags. After nearly refusing to refund our money paid for future nights accomodation they would not refund the previous nights stay. To be honest we should have been compensated for the next 3 days of continuous washing we have had to do in order to get rid of the problem.

On top of this the staff were very unhelpful and had a really bad attitude towards their work. The place was dirty, the "salt water" swimming pool was an oversized urinal and none of the washing facilities worked.

This hostel is a disgrace to the nomads chain and is not fit for humans to live in. I would personally rather have lost my Ipod than go through the stress they have caused us.

The people that have posted positive reviews about this place are either employees, friends of employees or 3rd worlders. I felt dirtier after a shower than I did before, the fridges take 36 hours to cool a beer, the staff are unfriendly and rude, the toilets regularly host floaters for days and the beds are rubbish - my back still aches. The Xmas BBQ was a disgrace, as was its host, who bare faced made out he was providing a good deal while he raked in a 90% mark-up on struggling backpackers on Xmas day! Shocking! We were also asked to move our car because it was obstructing the bins, yet another incovenience. Awful!

This was by far and away the worst hostel I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. For a developed country I can easily say the jungle huts in Cambodia were better looked after than this place. Disgusting, Dirty, Decrepid and Aloof staff basically sums it up.

If you drink enough it is bearable but in my distinguished opinion, try anywhere else than here - even the beach! And I'm deadly serious!

Hi everyone My name is "the wrecking ball". I also stayed at nomads, I partied nearly as hard as T- bone and do not remeber a great deal of my stay however I do remember being involved in a incident acting out a passage from a romantic novel with a punky brewster look alike form america- It took a while to get the taste out of my mouth. I did also fall in love with a dredlocked skank but couldnt get any action - no skills. Cant blame the hostel though as T-bone says: it rocks! P.S. I love you punky!!!!!-The wrecking ball

Hi my name is T-Bone, yes thats right T-Bone. I stayed at this hostel and partied on as only the T-bone can. I found the facilities to be very satisfactory indeed.I met a young female called em, during my stays there. Now this young thing was quite feral, but I ended up falling for her, we actually met in the very nice common area out the back of the hostel. After my visit T-Bone kept in touch with em via email. Over the next few weeks of her stay there, I picked up from said emails that she was boned by at least 5 guys. Moral of the story, if you want to bone skanks stay at Nomads, it rocks! My regard to the Wrecking Ball, T-Bone

I didn't even notice the quality of the hostel. It had everything I needed. The linen was clean and free as were the dishes and kitchen though it could have used a better selection of utensils and pots/pans. The staff were great and remembered my name even 4 months later when I passed through again. My stay in Byron was one of the highlights of my trip due to the people I spent it with. It was low season and almost the entire population of the hostel partied together every night possible. I would certainly stay there again especially as they were renovating as I left the second time around.
