I got to know about this place whilst staying in one of many backpackers in Byron. It offered accomodation for half the price compared to the mainstream bp'ers. So "landlord" (after a couple of days your mate) Brett picked me up, not knowing I'd spend the next 6 weeks with him. 'Cause Casa del Surf is sweet compared to all the other dumps. It's shared accomodation with max 15 others, the laid back no-worries vibe's all over the place, especially in between the surf sesh's. Brett's an enthousiastic surfer himself, and took a couple of us out to surf every single day. In between we'd go around town, we went to Nimbin, Lismore, Bangalow markets, all of it was sweet!

Veronica, the owner, sweet lady, would make dinner twice a week for the whole lot, for free! And every now and then she'd drop in, to check whether we were in need for something extra. And she'd get everyone heaps of extras, like homemade cookies, fruit, soup, you name it. The sweetheart even baked me a cake for my birthday, and we had a big party. Everyone would go out and have a drink in town every now and then, listening to live bands and have a great time.

You share a room with 4 or 6 of you. There's a nice sitting area, where we watched rentals every night. The kitchen is very well equiped and tidy. The sanitary is very clean, and you'll never have to wait for a shower, although there's just 2 of 'em. There's a massive dinnertable, which is really cozy during the evenings.

I left after a five week period of nonstop clear skies, with only 2 weeks to see the rest of oz all the way up to Cairns. I never had any regrets of staying over 6 weeks in Byron, cause Casa del Surf is sweet, and heaps of fun guarenteed.

I want to thank Brett, Veronica and John once more for everything, greatest stay during my trip, thanks!

Highly recommended!!!

FIrst of all the landlord and the manager of this small place are both really nice people. They welcomed me and help me with anything I needed. They rented dvd for us to watch at night every night, cooked us free meals twice a week and took us surfing whenever we wanted. The landlord Veronica helped a lot of backpackers staying at the house to find some jobs in town with her contacts which was really helpful. The manager Brett took us to a lot of different surfing spot and he was more like a cool friend to hang out with than a bossy manager. The vibes at this place were always really chill and it felt more like a surfing house that you would rent with your best buddies than like a hostel. I arrived in Byron and stayed at the Art Factory and had to pay 27$ a night to have a crappy bed, having to pay a deposit to rent a blanket, a lock, some glasses and cup ?!? you end up paying 55$ just for all the deposit. THats why i was so happy to move to casa del surf..because they treat you like a member of their family more than like a backpacker who they can make money on them.

I stayed 1 month at Casa Del Surf and recommended it to all of my friends backpackers I met after that. I went to Alice Spring and decided to come back to Byron Bay to spend some more time just because I liked it so much there.

Well this place is amazing, all I needed was there. I,d rather be staying over there where you feel like being at home then being in an other ordinary backpacker. There is a nice living room with plenty couches, which is a must! I just had the best time of my life and get to know extraordinary people! The place is so chilled out, close to town & grossery store & beaches spots. You can,t go wrong going there, before I was paying double price in a backpacker and just realised I was stupid when I saw this place, surfer,s heaven, seriously! You got free meals twice a week & someone is there that can lift you to surf spots. Off the hook!
