BUG Review
Aussitel is a small hostel without much to write home about. The bathrooms are in need of an update, and the dorm rooms are ugly and ill-ventilated. The kitchen is average, but could use some maintenance as well. There is laundry, internet ($4 per hour), and a nice TV lounge with a fish tank and comfortable couches. The common area, though outside, is covered and gets smoky quickly. They have barbecues a few times a week and organise a lot of activities, specialising in dive trips, since there is a dive shop next door.
Price Dorm bed $20-26 Double/twin room $50-65 Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.
Pros:
staff, atmosphere, close to the beach, weather, diving,
Cons:
20 minute walk from the super market

I had only planned to stay 3 night, i was there for over a month. i really enjoyed my time there and have met great friends. I did so much, got my PADI, white water rafting, sea kayking, jetty jumping The beaches near by are also great.
love my time there
Had lots of fun at Aussitel. The "staff" (usually backpackers on an extended stay) were lots of fun. We went sea kayaking, which was a blast. The staff also took us out boogie boarding. We got to take out a canoe no charge too. The pool is lovely. Punch night is good times.

Arriving in Coffs Harbour we had only planned a one night stay, 5 weeks later we are finally moving up the coast after a brill time in Aussitel. From surf rafting to kayaking to playing volleyball on the beach, the hostel and it's staff- Ian and Trav! aim to please and go out of their way to help- like coming to assist us on the motorway after our tyre blew out on the way to see the fantastic waterfalls, we made it in the end!A brill place, definately do not miss it out, especially punch night!
Pros:
Incredibly sociable, and plenty of activities
Cons:
A bit far from Supermarkets.

I've stayed at two other hostels in Coffs and the Aussitel was by far the best. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and did everything they could to make sure my stay was as enjoyable and eventful as possible. The location is right near the Jetty and Harbour so its close to the ocean and safe swimming areas. With events every day, there was plenty of opportunites to drink and talk with people from all over the world that are staying at the hostel. Most of the time, the Aussitel had the most people staying at their hostel than the others, that in itself tells you something. Other hostel's in Coffs do not have many things going on at the hostel and to meet other people you have to go to the local bars and night clubs. My favorite stay in all of Australia has been at the Aussitel, and I recommend this hostel above the other two I stayed at here in Coffs. However, I do not think it is appropriate to those hostels if I name them.
Pros:
Nice pool and dining area
Cons:
Cockroaches in kitchen, concrete walls

This place is reasonably clean and has a great dining area and pool. However the rooms are down this long concrete corridor and feel a bit like prison cells! Shower area is ok as is lounge area. Watch out for hundreds of cockroaches freely roaming around the kitchen though.
Coffs harbour itself is pretty dull, ok beach, small town. Skip it if you can!
