BUG Review
Dubbo's YHA is a small youth hostel on a quiet residential street close to the town centre. The hostel features a TV lounge with a log fire and a small kitchen. It's off the main backpackers' trail and subsequently the hostel has a different clientele to the average coastal hostel, which means that the atmosphere can feel a bit dead.
Price Dorm bed $27.50 ($24.50 HI/YHA) Single room $35.50 ($30 HI/YHA) Double/twin room $55 ($49 HI/YHA) Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.
Pros:
Location and lounge area
Cons:
General lack of care and cleanliness
silver wanderers

With good management this could be a great hostel but no-one seems to bother about it. First exterior impression was of overgrown garden, broken exterior furniture, etc. Apart from when we rang the bell we never saw the manageress. Our sheets were torn and the curtain which was v old was torn and hung down. One shower had obviously not worked nor been repaired for some time- bone dry. The kitchen facilities were limited and the T towels were never replaced. This is backpacker hostelling at its most basic and definitely not worth the money or the membership of any hostelling association.

yha is run by a very warm couple who would do their best to make you comfortable or help you around the city. although Dubbo has few attractions, this yha is a pleasant and serene place for a stop-over or quick stay.
