BUG Review
This is a small and colourful hostel farther from town centre than the others, and a little more run-down. The atmosphere is a bit quieter here and the bathrooms need some maintenance, but dorms are fresh and breezy, and the kitchen is not bad. They have nightly events like dinners and movies, and this place has relatively high security. They offer free use of body boards.

We booked this hostel for one night and ended up staying 3! The doubles are in a separate building across the road in a 4 bedroomed house with a massive kitchen and sitting room. Our room had a balcony, nice to sit and read and relax. We used some facilities at the main hostel such as the laundry, and the hostel owner booked our next YHA for us (Byron Bay). A nice 10 minute walk into town via the road or down the beach and path. We found Port to be a nice relaxing place after Sydney, and the YHA helped us make up our minds to stay here for a very enjoyable 3 day stop.

We stayed in the block away from the main hostel and being a couple it was excellent. Dont know what the last person expects decor wise (its only a hostel!) but we found it great. Really quiet, great kitchen (made our first roast dinner in months!) and nice people. The BBQ is excellent value and nice way to meet people. Port Maquarie itself is a nice place for a few quiet days.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 1 night in September. The manager/owner was very nice. I would not recommend this hostel at all if you are a couple. We had a double room booked and it is in another street away from the hostel in a 4 bedroom upstairs downstairs apartment. There isn't any real security, the rooms could do with a total revamp and so could the bathroom. The shower dribbled, and it was either boiling or freezing!

This is a very nice, small, friendly YHA hostel. Owners picked me up from a late night bus and had my bed already made up so I didn't need to disturb sleeping guests. Kitchen is small but well equiped and common areas are friendly and inviting. My six bed dorm near the common room was nicely set up with plenty of space. The manager on duty rented movies to help keep us entertained on a cold night. 5 minute walk to downtown, the beach and coastal walking track. 15 minutes to koala hospital.

It a well kept hostel in a residential area, just outside of town. They have a good shuttle service to bus and train. "Beachside" hostel, however, is a misnomer in this case. The beach is a good 5min walk away (as is the town ). The lockers at the hostel are pretty dinky in size (wouldn't even fit my tent), but staff are accomodating, and locked up stuff that wouldn't fit in the locker in the office. The rooms are pretty basic, but the common areas are open, and enouraging to social interaction. Toilets (aka washrooms) are also in good condition. Not a bad place to stay, and meets all standards, but doesn't exceed them in any way. BTW there is lots to do in Port Macquarie (I don't know where the other person went). There are cheap cruises up the Hastings river, excellent surf, camel rides, a central park with boardwalks, ect, ect.

Nice homley feel. Quite good facilities, small but clean. Not much to do in Port Macquarie unless your into the local RSL. The dorms are quite small. good place to break up driving. Very good fruit available! Beware of drunken naked English boys on a saturday night!
