BUG Review
This hostel just up the street from the beach looks inviting from the outside and has quite a bit of character, but it also shows its age. It has good hardwood floors and a bright purple and green interior. The kitchen is just a small downstairs den with limited appliances, but you can rent cooking kits from reception. Dorms are boring and have a microwave and television which discourages socialising. Bathrooms are kind of grungy too. Internet costs $4 per hour and there is only a small veranda in front as a common area. Reception staff can be very impatient and rude.

Dorm bed $23-35

This is a great hostel and best by far, in the bondi area. Each room has TV, fridge, microwave and cleaned on a regular basis. There is no internal com area, but a large patio area where every1 meets for drinks. Ive been in most hostels in bondi before stumbling across the Lamrock and this hostel offers great value for money.

This place is ideal for working travellers who need to get a decent nights sleep.

The kitchen facilities are not great, and the managers sister, who works in reception on afternoon shifts is an ignorant, arrogant B---H. All other staff members were great and always willing to help.

I stayed here for several months in the summer of 2006 and loved it!!

This is the worst hostel I have experienced in Australia so far.

We booked a week over the Christmas period as everywhere else was booked up, and to be fair we were refunded when we decided to leave after the first day.

The hostel was dirty, smelly, dark (only a few of the lights were working), and the rooms are tiny with super thin matresses. There are no common areas apart from a little patio out the front, and everyone seems to prefer to keep themselves to themselves.

The only real plus point is the great location, 5mins from the beach.

Leave any expectations at the door, April 1, 2006

Ok so the place is definately no YHA and the report of bed bug infestation in someones matress made everyone itch, but the place oozes atmosphere. The seating area outside is agreat idea, it took 20 mins to get to the door as everyone was itching (literally!) to exchange travel stories and pass on information. Kitchen is kinda dated but everything works. The rooms can be a little cramped when full and as there is no air con, be prepared for some space-wresting to get near the fan in the corner of the room! Location-wise, 10/10. Right near the pubs, beach, IGA. (a trip to Bondi Hotel is a must!)

arrival was cool, met people out the front, having fun and honestly enjoying their holiday (that's sydney!) My time at the lamrock was experiences only photos could say. Not one person i met told me that nope lets just leave. We all stayed 1 week then 2 weeks then 3 weeks then time was the holiday!!!!!!!

Stay for a day, 2 weeks or even months & have the holiday you wanted. The beach is down the road, i'm talking max 5 min walk for everyone. Let's go surfing, cos you will see a lot surfers, so learning is no issue. The rooms are comfortable just ask for what you want! Bondi beach is the area to see water, have good meals (home cooked or take out) and just be surrounded by friends.

For all that want an experience lets all just chill here!

Trust me when i say I will be back at the logde!

Let's all enjoy the holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have stayed here many times and have never found the staff rude (maybe the previous reviewer didnt like to pay their rent on time). The rooms are clean and the bathrooms are excellent. They have a huge kitchen, cable tv in each room and great common area out the front where you can soak up the sun. Only 30 seconds to the beach and even closer to the off license!!! great location, rooms and one of the cheapest hostels in Sydney (unless you want a 8 bed dorm in Kings Cross).

I stayed here when my boyfriend just got into town (me being in Oz for about a month before him). Its good if you just want to be alone with your boy/girl friend. The doubles have tvs, microwaves, sink, fridge- which is perfect for staying in. Its clean. The staff is horrible though- very rude. Try and take advantage of the free airport pickup! Dont go there to make friends.

This was the most unwelcoming hostel I have ever been to. The staff were very unfriendly (one lady was extremely rude), there was no atmosphere, guests did not talk beyond their groups, and the place was dirty.

Wish I'd taken the advice from a previous reviewer and a friend who'd stayed here -not to. Reception staff aren't friendly or welcoming, it's hard to meet people, and the TV, microwave, fridgette and sink in the dorms are a very poor substitute for a good common area, kitchen and bathrooms which are all below average. Management needs to *renovate* with a good, large kitchen, better bathrooms, large common room and friendlier staff, and then move the facilities and people! out of the dorms!! Then it would be a great place to stay cos the location is pretty damn excellent

Being a girl on my own I would've wanted somewhere where it would be easy to meet people, with some sort of common room or lounge. This had no way for people to get to know each other, it was gloomy and dull and nobody really spoke out of their groups. The only people I got to know were the lads in my room. The kitchen was tiny aswell. The bathrooms weren't particularly nice and there were too many dorms, they could've used some of them as communal areas. Not recommended.
