I stayed in a single room which actually had a double bed/single bed bunk bed configuration (double being on bottom). The mattresses were so thin, I could feel every metal bar under it. I had to pull the single mattress of the upper bunk and pile it on top of the lower one before it was comfortable. Also the doors don't have have proper hinges on them and this causes them to slam loudly. It's not just one or two doors, but every one in the place. They put signs up about it, but some people don't comply and it can be loud (particularly when combined with the echoing concrete). The hostel is very clean though and the bathrooms were cleaned at least twice a day from what I could tell. Very friendly staff. Free Internet and wireless (although it was dog slow while I was there).Place was quiet and the rooms were away from the street. Oh, and it has a great balcony overlooking Alfred Park with a fantasic skyline view. Great for lazing the day away.Recommended, but I'd be careful of the beds and mattresses if that sort of thing bothers you.

As far as Sydney is concerned this place would have to be one of the best value places in town, based on location alone. It is located across the street from Prince Alfred Park, which you walk across to get to the city. It is a 5 min walk to central railway station, and about 7 mins walk to the major pubs & clubs in Sydney. With a location like this, it is easy to get pretty much anywhere you need to go.The hostel has a large communal balcony on the second floor which has an excellent view of the Sydney skyline & the Park. It is a pretty good place to meet other travellers. All in all, this place isnt a party place, families & older couples do stay there, so dont expect to automatically find someone to go out with every night.Offstreet parking is available, but make sure you get there early as these tend to go quickly during peak times, and they cannot be pre-reserved. (first in, first served) And you DONT want to park on the street, and be constantly moving your car all day. The bathrooms are ok. They probably wont stand up to super strict inspection, but they are very private, and quite bearable. Internet access is available in the lobby. I stayed in a 4 person dorm room which was fairly comfortable, however, it did get a little cramped & stuffy during summer when it was full. All rooms have TV's.The management is quite friendly & helpful. They are willing to give advice on things to do in Sydney, and will help in booking tours etc.Given Sydney isnt the cheapest place in the world, Id say this place is one of the better places to stay, and Id recommend it to all.
