BUG Review
This place has a reputation as a party hostel- for good reason. The entire first floor is dedicated to fun and games. The TV lounge is plush and inviting, the kitchen is clean, and there is a nice red pool table and modern furnishings in the common area. The sound system is configured to be able to quickly organise a party. At the top of the 9 story building is The Church, a 27-bed dorm with stained glass windows which it is rumoured to have more to do with sin than salvation. The interior is cool and sleek, and the daily activities are well planned and fun. It's a great place to meet people.

Surprised how filthy this place was., February 16, 2007

Staff were unhelpful verging on rude. The Kitchen ill-equiped and always dirty. This 13 floor hostle has two lifts both of which were broken for half a day. 10th floor 6 bed dorm was stuffy and half the size of other 6 bed dorms. the daily cleaning amounted to emptying bin and changing vacant beds The ensuite wasn't touched in the week I was there. I would have left early but this hostel has a no refund policy. How has this place won awards in the past? Glad to leave.

I don't know how they won the awards!!!!, June 23, 2006

Pros: On-Suite, fairly good showers.
Cons: The beds are like sleeping on cardboard and are tiny!!

Really not what we expected, the rooms were tiny, the beds were rock hard and the toilet leaked all the time. The TV room backs onto the kitchen and in front of the lifts so people are always walking through. The worst thing about this hostel are the plastic plates, impossible to clean and all are scratched and manky.

Avoid like the plague, much much better hostels in Sydney to be found.

Hostel 3 blocks away from Central Station, 2 blocks away from Chinatown and one block away from grocery store. Plenty of resturants nearby, Gas stove tricky to operate, Front desk was about a 3.5/5 for help, usually one of the two people that worked the desk knew the answer. Internet was very slow but this might be a Australia problem.

We stayed in a Twin. Every room is advertised with Ensuite but one room on each floor has a dedicated bathroom located down the hall.

This is a nice hostel, the location is great and have found the staff on reception very helpful. The room (staying in a four bed dorm) has plenty of space & powerpoints, and having an ensuite toilet and shower is very handy. Everywhere is clean and tidy apart from maybe the kitchen which isn't always the cleanest and would look better with proper plates and bowls and cups / glasses - the majority are plastic which once have been used a few times always look filthy even if are clean. I would recommend this hostel.

I stayed here after there was no rooms left in Wake up. i ended up paying for a week, school boy error. I had to change room after the first night after getting bitten by bed bugs, which is not the hostel fault so i moved rooms. All the dorms are really small and smelly, not much room to put your stuff and the bathrooms are boggin'. The kitchen is not too bad, it could do with a few more stuff, the staff were alright and i made meet some great peolpe but was glad when my week was up and i found somewhere else to live.

I stayed at this hostel before and after the 'renovations' and can honestly say that there is absolutley no difference in the quality of rooms, they still smell and the bathrooms are still covered in mould!!. For the size of the hostel, the kitchen is tiny, there is no room to cook, and there was barely any cutlery or crockery at all. The staff at Reception (especially Craig) are so rude unless they are taking money from you, and even then they are quick to dismiss and ignore you. For example don't bother trying to get information from them; unless there's commision involved your wasting your time. The place is unfriendly and considering that you have to wait sometimes 10 minutes for the elevator, you'd think someone would try and talk to you, or at least respond when you try to make polite conversation. And lastly security -or more to the point the lack and integrity of security. Whilst i was there i had money stolen from my own room and when i reported it to both security and Reception, they were both too busy checking their emails to bother with me!! Definatley the worst hostel i've stayed in!!

This is a really good hostel to meet people. They organise parties, pizza and sangria nights etc so it's really easy to make friends. They were redecorating it when I was last there in May so it looks much brighter and cleaner but the kitchen was still a bit lacking. It depends what you want from a hostel - f you want clean and boring - go to a YHA or similar. If you want a good time - stay at Footprints. I also found the staff to be really friendly and good fun - not rude or surly at all. I had a really good time here - all 3 times and made some v good friends.

Footprints has just been refurbished and is a very nice hostel, with a big clean kitchen. The manager behind the desk isn't too nice but other than that I enjoyed staying here

I was very disappointed when I came here, because it did not look at all the way it did on the website! The rooms and hallway were dark and depressing and had old yucky carpet and paint peeling off of the walls. The room had a bathroom in it and could have been decent, but obviously they are too cheap to spend any money to fix them up! The people at the desk are not the friendliest. They seem to only care about taking your money and the North American girl with the short blonde hair is really rude and extremely dismissive if you need anything! Someone in my room got sick and needed help and she basically fobbed us off and gave us vague/incorrect directions to find a doctor and then when we got there the place wasnt even open! There are 13 floors and it takes forever to catch an elevator. You can take the stairs but they are really dirty and you cannot get from the first floor to the ground floor to leave the building. Someone later told me that the locker that they put their bags in got broken into with a crobar and all of their stuff was stolen! The hostel is (like the last person commented on) in a depressing, creepy looking part of town that I wouldnt even want to walk through much less stay in!
