BUG Review
This hostel is halfway finished with renovations, which it badly needed. It is a hit or miss here, as some rooms are spacious and clean, while others are old and depressingly dark. Some also have a stale smell to them. All of the carpets are new, but only half the bathrooms are new, the others are a bit mouldy. There is not much in the way of facilities here. The kitchen is tiny, so they encourage guests to eat downstairs in the Asian restaurant. Reception staff are not very outgoing or friendly. It is not the most convivial place besides the rooftop sundeck with a barbecue and nice views.

Very roomy backpackers., September 12, 2007

Pros: Enourmous rooms, most central backpacker in Sydney
Cons: Shared bathrooms.

This is perhaps one of the most over loooked gems of sydneys backpackers. This place is so central, two blocks from town hall and QVB. Rooms are enourmous, this place is definatly worth a look if youre traveling in a group. Rooms come with fridges, tv's and dvd players. The roof top is a nice place to chill out and the kitchen is adequately equipped.

The only downside is that the showers and toilets get a little gross, if they were cleaned a little more often this problem would be solved. Next time im in sydney with a group i'll be back in a heart beat.

What a place! On and off I spent 9 months here and had a great time!

It's in a great location - Hyde Park, the Domain, Botanical Gardens, Kings Cross in one direction; Circular Quay, Harbour Bridge, The Opera House and The Rocks just down George & Pitt Street; and Darling Harbour and the Three Wise Monkey's within staggering distance! What more can you ask for?

I took away plenty of memory's and still have the odd flashback!

On a recent trip to Oz I dragged my wife, my Mum and step-Dad halfway across Sydney just so I could check the old place out!

If any of you see this - Hello to Charlie, Ned, Nick, Sammy, Eddy, Big Paul, Louise, Will, Fleur, AJ, Trisha, Natasha, Lorraine, etc...

Check it out!!!

I pre-booked accomodation here and it was a big letdown. I was in a ten bed dorm by myself, the ensuite shower was broken as was the t.v in the room. When I asked about email, I was told that it had also broken 'a few days ago'. All this for $33 a night. When I arrived home I've also found an additional charge to my credit card which they cannot/will not explain. I would not advise people to stay here, there are better hostels for less money and just as good a location.

its not good when you book a place months in advance and get told that its all booked. then when you get there they say they have made a mistake and have not got you booked. they then say they will book you into somewhere else bearing in mind that this is new year! we get a call saying they have found a place but on checking this new place have not heard of us of the person from sydney backpackers. time to panic. on return back home guess what an email sent the day after we had left. all in all a major let down

What are the below people on...do they still think their mummies are going to come and clean up after them...its a backpackers and maybe some guests are a little less clean than the rest..get over it. I think this was a great place to stay the most central backpackers in Sydney 5 mins to everything, very helful and informative staff you help make sure you enjoy your stay.

The backpackers is in the middle of the city so what did Rosalie expect? A picture prefect view of the Bondi. I would highly recommend this place, its maybe hard to find and the entrance is on a sidestreet, but its one of those quirky places that once you find it, you will love it.

I went there after having read all the raving reviews on here and was really disappointed. When I arrived I was informed I was the only one to check in that day, not a good sign I thought to myself, and how true. The rooms are dark and mine was quite shabby, although my roommates are also responsible to this. Rooms are spacious, have bunk beds, aircon, a fridge and a tv (which might run all night if you get the "right" roommates). The bathroom/shower facillities are very dity. There was stuff everywhere, the sink had more hairs in it than I have on my had and I first did not want to take my shoes of in the shower. The location however is quite good.

Its a nice hostel but not the best.

Its stairs smel bad, are dirty and the rooms are big but stil have bunk beds, and the room is not that clean.

The staf is there, mostly, and the security, wel te swipe cards do not always work perfect. The kitchen is clean and so is te laundry room. The vieuw from the roof is . . . . . Buildings and building sites.

I would have to totally agree with the above comment. The hostel is immaculate, cleaned regulary, great facilites, dorms are quite large, kichen may be small, but again, cleaniness is outstanding. The staff are wicked!!, and if you don't meet great people/friends here, you might as well go home.

The hostel, is right bang in the middle of the city, less than a minute walk to the QVB. 5 mins to either Darling Harbour and Circular Quay, and beside all the bars. I have great memories of the place, and met some awesome people. I only found it by accident, and ended up staying 2 months, and still keep coming back after leaving. The hostel, is defo a party hostel, where everyone gets to know each other, and makes an effort, the staff hold regular parties up on the roof, and you can't fail to have a great time here.

I too would like to thank Eddie and all the staff, Tucker, Ian, Steve etc, for a great time, and defo will be back someday.

This is without a doubt the best hostel in Sydney, and possibly the best of my time in Australia. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are Immaculate, clean, and really big, with some ensuite, and all with Cable TV.

It is just like a home from home, with something always going on. The amount of people that come for a few days and stay longer is unbelievable, simply because of the nature of the place and the people in it. If you don't have a mad time here, then you won't anywhere else. Its the most centrlist hostel in Sydney, with the main street George Street right outside the hostel. Most hostels claim to be in the City, well this Hostel IS in the Heart of the City. The only downside is the Kitchen may be on the small side, but sure Mc D's and Burger King etc on on your doorstep, as well as the cinmena right opposite.

I met so many awesome people here, and had some of the best nights ever, and the staff will ensure that you are out and enjoying ourself. I can't rate the place highly enuff. Cheers to Eddie and all the staff
