The Wizard of Oz is a clean hostel is in a nicely renovated house. It has the usual kitchen and TV lounge and laundry plus a big backyard. It has a great atmosphere and it’s close to shops and a short walk from the beach.
Price Dorm bed $25-45 Double/twin room $60-120 Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.

The Wiz is a great hostel in a great location near great food, bars and an amazing beach. Having stayed there seveal times over the years though, I can say that presently the Wiz is desparate need of some new management and employees.The hostel is currently overrun with longterm guests who the management are too intimidated to control. This has created an atmosphere in which new guests are treated as outsiders while the longterm guests do whatever they want which, during my stay, consisted of vandalising hostel property, intimidating guests and management and entering any room they felt like to do whatever they felt like doing. Not a fun situation to be in, unless you are a longterm guest, I suppose.When booking, ask whomever you are speaking to for an update on the longterm guest situation.Hopefully, the Wiz can return to its former glory.

Loved my stay in Coogee, some of it has got to be down to the hostel. I'd stay there again if I went back! Not the cheapest of places but value for money
