BUG Review
This is a pretty run-down and bland little hostel near King's Cross. The kitchen is old but clean. Bathrooms are quite dirty and desperately need some maintenance. There is no internet, but at reception they offer vouchers for free internet in a café down the street. The rooftop has a BBQ and a nice view of the Harbour Bridge, but the old plastic furniture does not provide much in the way of atmosphere. The television lounge has a nice TV but the carpet and couches are old and torn.

This is the first hostel I went to on arriving in sydney from the uk. The airport pickup was very handy as well as being free! Really enjoyed my stay here..I shared a twin room with my friend, the room was clean and had a fridge and tv. The bathroom was just opposite the room and shared with about 4 others. The staff were all lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was also included in the price of the room so well worth it! Overall a great place to stay in a good location with friendly people. :)

I stayed here for 2 weeks ,very clean and nice spacious kitchen. Many people stay here ,very good location near city centre and opera house.Free pick up from the airport and free breakfast everyday, made me happy as it saved me lots of money.

The rooms were clean enough, but the tiolet and shower that was for the three rooms on our level were faulty and no hot water in the shower. There was always the smell of smoke hanging around and not everything on the site that it promised was forthcoming. The staff were friendly but not accurate with directions to local train station. Prior arrangement for a late checkout did not incur any extra charge.

That pretty much sums up everything. I've been to so many hostels during my trip to Australia. I got bitten everywhere by bed bugs and spent around $45 on medication it was so bad. The rooms are disgusting and the TV room stank like smoke all the time. I really can't stand cigarette smoke so I hated it so I had to leave. There's a better hostel off Europeancar called City Resort. That place was much better. That's just my opinion though.

My friend Sarah and i had booked Boomerang well in advance of our trip, and we were happy with the price and service they provided once we got there. It was a busy time of year, early December and everyone was happy with the lead up to Christmas so the hostel gave out a good atmosphere and we enjoyed our stay. My only wary piece of advice is be careful of the bunk beds - if you sleep on the top one and rock it even slightly, it could be likely to give way - they are not strong bunk beds, so sleep on the lower beds where possible!! Also the hostel is located in a good place - right next to the convenience store, so if you need to make food, shops are very near, in fact there is another convenience store on the other side of the road.Overall, we enjoyed our stay. In the evening, we watched and laughed at the outdoor life on Kings Cross!!

I stayed there for a week and it was really disgusting. The showers were full of pests and the bed bugs they've got can get quite aggressive. And the manager isn't very friendly either. So don't stay there if you can avoid it

I have stayed at Boomerang 3 times now, before and after the New Year, the hostel is in a good location a few minutes walk away from Kings Cross, and its cheap cafes and good supermarket, and a few minutes walk to the city centre and Hyde park. I stayed in the same over New Year as Phil the miserable English person who wrote the previous comment. He was a very nasty and stupid man, the sort of english hippie-bum you might find in India, he had a dumb American friend with him also. He complained about everything, from that the fireworks over New Year were too noisy ,price of beer too expensive etc, He was so stupid, he didn't book any accommodation in Sydney until 23rd December!, lucky the hostel had some cancellations or he would of ended up on the streets, which is where he belongs!. Take no notice of his comments. The hostel was very busy over New Year but there was plenty of space, the hostel has a good lounge and a rooftop where we can see the Opera house and Sydney harbour bridge. I found it to be very clean and tidy and the staff and owner very friendly, one of the best hostels in Sydney!!______________________________RESPONSE FROM PREVIOUS REVIEWERMarie from Sweden (5 stars!! Are you the manager of this hostel?)should try getting her facts straight before calling me a hippie-bum! I was certainly not sharing a room with her, nor did I have an American companion! My party booked our '6-bed' dorm 2 months before New Year, only to have an extra 2 beds shoved in and told to get on with it. The last member of our party to arrive was told there were no pillows for her - and all at twice the usual room rate! Backpackers beware of which reviews you take note of!

We toured Oz for two months and this hostel was by far the worst of the lot. Generally hostels were a good standard but not this one. In mitigation, it was the New Year period so very busy, but there can be no excuse for fitting extra beds in already cramped rooms and allowing people to sleep in the garage. The managers response to the situation, " I don't know why anybody wants to come to Sydney!".

This hostel advertises everything that is not available upon arrival - dont be fooled by the nice internet site. They have resident pets (bed bugs), the living room gets very smoky, they do not provide lockers or free internet at the moment and the owner never smiles, not even when hes taking your money (so much for the friendliest hostel in town). The location is good, but nothing else.
