this is an average if a little dull hostel which is o.k if your in a decent area but it is directly on one of the corners where sydneys street hookers get picked up by punters driving by and a wouldnt say i thought it was safe at night for women to walk back to the hostel alone.

there is also a lot of homeless and drug dealers around the area further down the hill where the subway bridge crosses over and i'd think twice about walking to the habour through there after dark.

its not really the hostels fault but i'd strongly reccommend you dont stay there as theres dozens of better hostels for similar money in nicer areas

the asian stoner guy on reception was a good laugh though, hello!

my girlfriend stayed here and I felt very bad for her. She did not feel completely safe. The internet was down. the vending machines did not work. and she said that it did not seem that anyone ever cleaned the hostel. further, there was no congregation area (at night, atleast when the "courtyard" could be utilized." She said that the courtyard was not all it was cracked up to be.

I should mention that my g.f. is not at all picky and she is the farthest thing from a princess, and she has travelled internationally before and she said that this was the worse hostel she'd been in (although she said that it was completely bad and that she has been lucky with all of her other experiences). And she's not even an American, like me, so she's used to roughing it, even in her native country...

She is also very frugal, but she ditched that place before using up her full deposit. She had paid for several days in advance and there was no refund.

Frobes terrace is a hostel which is pretty poor at best if it was in a nice area of sydney but its in one of the worst areas of the city, it has a kind of fortress feel to it with good reason, the corner literally on the hostels front door is the prime area for prostitutes in sydney and has all manner of weird kerb crawlers driving by. Also the bridge just down the street has crackheads and junkies who give you hassle when you walk from the harbourside. this hostel is the biggest c**phole i had the misfortune to stay in in australia and i feel it is a bad area for womens safety.

I've seen other bad feedback for this hostel on this foum (maybe because you can book through the web page) but it always dissapears which is out of order especially when it is such a sleazy area
