BUG Review
Funk House is a very convivial little place with psychedelic paintings in the halls and on doors. Dorms are cramped but clean, with new bright paint and good beds. There is a Peter Pan travel agency in reception, and they organize nightly events such as pub crawls. It is a good place to meet party-minded travellers, and reception staff are warm and welcoming. Across the street you can get 15 minutes of free internet with your hostel key card. It has a good location and a nice rooftop barbecue area.

i stayed here in my 1st and last week in oz. its a very noisy, party and fun hostel. not for those who like peace and quiet. staff are always really friendly and even let me have my years worth of post delivered there. bathrooms are clean but the shower curtains do need replacing as they dont really cover the whole width of the shower, but to be honest after my 1st shower it never bothered me, i could never see anyone when they were in there and never really looked either! never had to queue for shower either. there is a bathroom for both male and female on both floors.rooms are small but nice, think the maximum is 4 bed, but i was in 3 bed which was cool. the area is a bit dodgy but safe as long as you have you wits about you. right in the heart of all kings x's goings on. would def stay again

I had such a great time at this hostel. While the place could do with a little updating, the people (staff were awesome and so helpful) easily made up for that. The TV room was awesome as it had just been updated with a big wide screen TV. Watched "cricket" for the first time.. had Ben explaining the rules to me, even after he had finished his shift.I had a great all female dorm and Lisa and Ellen were so sweet, we thoguht we were lucky to have a 3 bed dorm, but apparently, the other dorms are all 3 or 4 beds anyway. sweet! And Hamish, behind reception, such a darl. Did everything he could to make sure I had a great stay, knew all the places to go get good meals, good drinks and the best walks/views in Sydney.I reccomend these guys to anyone.

I wouldn't recommend a stay here. Bad location, King's Cross which is the hub of stripper joints and such. The kitchen is way too small and ill equipped with everyone fighting over the use of one sink. Bathrooms are gross and showers offer very little privacy with a flimsy curtain. On the plus side, the staff was nice and the overall atmosphere is fun. Definite party hostel, so if you're gonna be trashed the whole time, I suppose the facilities don't matter much. Depends what you're looking for...but I'm sure you can find a nicer hostel that's just as fun.
