BUG Review
The Palms is a small friendly hostel on a quieter street in King's Cross. It is quite small and simple with a laid-back, friendly atmosphere. Free internet including Wi-Fi and a cosy lounge area with a large TV are highlights. Dorms tend to be cluttered and in poor shape, but the beds are good. Each has a clean en suite bathroom. The balcony in front is a nice place to hang out at night. The kitchen is well equipped, and there is free breakfast and free tea and coffee. Staff are fun and outgoing.

1st of all, the hostel and everything to do with it are good. I was here in 2004 for 4months and loved it so much im back again. The breakfast IS on the table EVERY morning and the manager doesnt ruin this place, he is what makes it great. he will take everyone to the beach in the hostels van, help out on loads of questions and organises fantastic day trips. we all went paintballing last time.

the kitchen is well equipped with everything u need and is all stainless steel stylie with all clean and working appliances. on fridays a BBQ out on the patio is provided and the manager will do all the cooking 4 u. all u have 2 do is play on the xbox and wait 4 it 2 be ready.

this hostel is well recommended!!!

The Palms has small dorms aswell as large - but are not up-to-scracth. fridges and en-suite in each dorm room try to make up for general run-down appearance. the kitchen maybe larger than it was but is VERY poorly equipt eg. only 1 or 2 pans had a handle, only a few knives and forks, and cups or glasses were non-existant. the managers mood swings created a poor atmosphere at best, and he filled most of the longer term residents with fear over their jobs within the hostel. double charging for beds was not un-common - over long periods aswell! If it wasn't for the manager i would not hesitate on going back to the hostel, but until the managment changes i would NOT recomend it to anyone. his reply to the last "bad comment" about him is typical of his nature - making out "he's not in the wrong" and "having the last word"!

This hostel probabally had potential at one stage but unfortunatly falls way below the grade for this back packer.

The kitchen is unbelievably unhygenic (only being cleaned once a day). While they advertise a free brekfast, it never seems to be available in the morning.

The manager appears to be the main problem with this particular hostel. Don't be surprised if he charges you double what he charges other lodgers. As he changes his prices as often as his mood.

He is very irritable, and is the cause of alot of tension within the hostel. Maybe this place would be a great option for backpackers if it weren't for these problems, but until then stay well clear and try somewhere else.

This place did kick ass, free playstation and xbox, good crowd and perfect location and a nice veranda to sit outside and get drunk on. We went paintballing and fishing as hostel activities there. However the manager is totally bipolar one minute hes your best mate then your worst enemy, best to keep your diatance.

Had such a great time at The Palms I stayed for over 2 months and went back for another 6 weeks at the end of my trip. Our room had a fridge, tv and ensuite which was fantastic.
