BUG Review
The Pink House is a big old house on a leafy residential street but close to the heart of Kings Cross. The building has loads of character with high ceilings but it shows its age. It has the usual facilities including a kitchen and TV lounge plus free Internet access (Wi-Fi isn’t free but you get unlimited Wi-Fi access for only $2) and several quiet shady courtyard areas including one with a barbecue. There are TVs in all the rooms. It is a fun place to stay.

Well I stayed in the city in the most awful sterile hostel with no atmosphere before a friend suggested I move to the Pink House. Thank god I did. It was so much better. There was heaps of free stuff (breakfast + internet with WiFi and even free beer twice a week. The staff are really helpful and everyone seemed really friendly. They did a cool BBQ the 1st night I was there - I think it is a weekly thing and then we all got free beer that night. It's the perfect place to meet people. Oh yeah - Miranda's famous sydney walking tour is the best way to see the city. Thanks for a great stay Pink House. I will be back.

What can one say about such a legendary house? I got to the airport at 5:00am and didn't know what to do. It was my first time in Australia and I had no place to sleep, which was much needed after a 14 hour plane ride. I pulled out my Lonely Planet and read about the Pink House. Sounds good. I hopped on a bus and arrived before reception was even open. I was told to go eat some breakfast (which is free) and relax in the TV room. After reception opened, I was escorted to the infamous room 7 (coolest room in the hostel) and soon found deep slumber on the sturdy wooden bunk beds! Little did I know that I would spend most of September- January in this home away from home! I have now been travelling for 9 months and the only people I always keep in touch with are from the Pink House. The Pink Hose has a BBQ, free movie/ popcorn night, a way to get on the piss for free most every night, the staff could not be cooler and more welcoming. Miranda (the manager) is a gem. If you have a problem, concern, or even want to just have a chat, she is always there for you...unless it was a big night the evening before.... There is always fun to be had at this place!!!! The Pink House was not a hostel for me, it was my home and I had 100 or so other brothers and sisters. The biggest and best family I have ever had!!

We loved this hostel. It was the best one we have stayed in. We found the staff helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Our dorm was bright and clean. Its a great place to meet people we stayed for 3 months over christmas and new year and have made friends that we will keep for life. There is plenty going on with organised activities and weekly events like movie night or bbq night. We would recommend anyone to stay there.

My first visit to the Pink House was so enjoyable, that I knew I had to return for Christmas and NYE. My time at the Pink House was one of the most memorable of my travels. The people really make it, especially the staff, who really will do anything to help you and ensure you are having a good time. There are 3 courtyards, a tv room and a music room, so plenty of places to socialise and also spend quiet time when you need. Free breakfast, internet and movie nights (with popcorn) are all a bonus. There are plenty of weekly activities arranged, that it would be impossible not to meet people. There are extra activities arranged over xmas, such as Pink House Olympics, Murder Week, Scavenger Hunt/pub crawl though the city, Christmas Dinner with a real Santa Claus and NYE picnic with spectacular views of the harbour bridge, opera house and fire works - truly memorable. I would strongly recommend this hostel.

If you're going to Kings Cross, this is the place to stay. My friend and I were traveling from Jersey and didn't know a soul--by the end of the week we had made about 20 new amazing friends. The atmosphere is really laid back and everyone is there to meet people and have a good time. The rates are cheap and the rooms are nicer than most I've stayed in for much more money. It's in a great location too, it was a 5 minute walk to the grocery store and train station and all the great bars. There's always something going on, you're never on your own unless you want to be. I even ended up taking a road trip to Melbourne with someone I met at the hostel and it was such fun. The staff is awesome (hiya Miranda!) and always there to help you out with ANYTHING. The managers even organized a place for us to go for New Years, and practically the whole hostel was there--we got to see the fireworks from RIGHT near the bridge, it was amazing. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. My stay in Sydney wouldn't have been nearly as memorable if I hadnt stayed with the Pink House. Trust me, go there! :)

I think the Pink house has been the best hostel by far on my 18 months travelling around Australia! It just seems to work very well and attract really cool backpackers! The layout and size of this place is it's magic quality, it means you will meet tons of excellent new friends... and isn't this what backpacking is really about??? Hostels should be part of your adventure, not just somewhere to sleep...The staff are amazing and really look after us backpackers first rather than just trying to glean all our money off us which a lot of other hostels try...The location rocks! Kings cross is truely 24/7 and the PH is hidden out the back of it, 1 minutes walk away down a leafy lane where it's nice a quiet! My friends reccommended this place to me and they stayed here 7 years ago!!! It's lived up to their hype!I've come back to this hostel 5 times now and clocked up months in total... because it's the best!

this place rocks. If ur gonna stay in Kings Cross this is the best by a million miles. Miranda (manager) is a legend and major friendly. Its not flash or upmarket but it grows on u pretty quick. Loads of arranged activites nightly and everyone really friendly. Compared to Wake Up etc its much better value for money. stayed here 2 weeks instead of 3 nights. Would give it 5 stars for the area but not over all of sydney.

The Pink House is a friendly, cozy hostel tucked into a quiet side street near Fitzroy Park. It is a good old-fashioned hostel, a nice change from some of the more sterile hostels that seem to be taking over Australia. The staff there is exceptional. They are instantly warm and welcoming and have scads of passes and vouchers for almost anything you would want to do in Sydney. There are several common areas and the layout is good for meeting lots of people. I have been recommending this hostel to everyone I meet who is going to Sydney and so far, everyone has agreed with my opinion of the place. In my travels around Australia nothing has quite stacked up to the Pink House. One thing, the posted picture is not right. The Pink House actually is a big, pink house. Go there and see for yourself.

I was gonna stay for maybe two weeks in sydney, but landed up staying at the pink house for a month! My friends had been there back in '99 and had recomended it fully, and i have to agree with them fully too! I have been using it as a benchmark to which i judge all other hostels in Oz, and i don't think any have been better... (been in oz 6 months) it's just a great ballance of good features. The best bit is the communal areas... they work perfectly (the downfall of most other hostels), you will meet almost everyone in the hostel very easily, and everyone tends to be a good bunch of people, not so many of the shallow 18 y/o party people you may meet in other crappy party hostels. It hasn't got a bar, which is a good sign for any hostel i reckon, and they're always organising stuff in the evenings, so you can hang out with everyone with the hostel and get to know them... group bonding type of things... The location is Ace. Just behind the police station in KingsX in a really quiet street... I thought KingsX was a very interesting and funny place... nothing that you can be frightened of! it's a healthy walk into town! There are a lot of people that tend to stay longer that just a few days, and a few real long-termers, all of which are cracking characters and it means that you have a fairly stable group of mates there if you stay for a few weeks yourself... But there are still loads of nice people coming and going... and a really good international mix. The staff are all great... really helpful... even after not being there for 5 months (like me) as they're still very happy/willing to forward my mail and stuff... I have a few nights owed to me and will most certainly be returning there for the last few weeks of my stay in Oz! The only gripe i have with the place is that they tent to pack up the free breakfast too promptly in the morning... but then i should be getting up and going out to do stuff i guess... It's Bonza!
