I reserved a double in the hostel after reading the fabulous reviews here and looking at the Web site. It turned out the double room we received looked NOTHING like the picture on the Web site. It was tiny, had a bunk bed, had a window facing a dark air shaft, did not have a sink, smelled musty and was cramped. In fact the entire hostel felt crowded -- with people stacked on top of one other. People in the TV lounge had to constantly move their legs for people to get through. The kitchen had little room to maneuver. I bet this place is great during the low-season, but avoid it during the summer and other peak periods when the hostel is crowded and it starts renting out sub-standard rooms.

Spent a month at this hostel. Was impressed by effort the staff put in in giving you an hospitable time. The thursday evening rooftop barbie quite enjoyable as well as the fun time at local bar.Not a 4star area but you do come away with lifelong conversational topics that will get better with time. The location is good even though area has a tawdry reputation. You dont bother them they wont bother you. It is about 30minuet walk to the ferries and central Sydney.Or a $1.80 bus ride down town.$2.20 one way by bus to Bondi beach. Train station 5 minuet walk. If you desire Holiday inn living then perhaps elsewhere your pick but if a free spirit person you will grow from staying at this hostel.

Sydney Central is in a great position, with a beautiful walk through the botanical gardens to the Opera house and with easy access to Bondi. Victoria Street is also a great relaxed street to be near. The hostel itself is friendly enough and we have slept well on the comfy beds. I love having a tv in the room and a fridge is a bonus. The rooftop area has good views and a delapitated pool table which is still okay for a game. I recommend you stay in this hostel or somewhere near.

A really clean hostel with nice atmosphere. No bar in hostel but near to great cafes and bars.

Only one train stop from Sydney centre that only takes minutes so really handy!

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The staff were very helpful with both info and our job search.

Oh Yeah - we got heaps of free stuff when we arrived - vouchers for food, beer, internet,...

Thouroughly reccommended !!!
