BUG Review
A bit farther from the centre than the other Manly hostels, the Manly Bunkhouse is in a residential neighbourhood in a small run-down building. The kitchen is tiny and badly maintained. A dark and stuffy television room is the only real common area although there is also a sunny backyard with a barbecue.

Very friendly, like a student house but clean and smell-free, January 30, 2008
Reviewer: londonlass from London, UK

Pros: Fantastic people, great backyard and common room, helpful staff, small dorms, beach 2 mins away
Cons: No alcohol inside, but this means it's cleaner and quieter

It's like moving into a friendly student house. Everyone is very nice, the staff are helpful. Internet is cheap and fast, no photo uploads though. The kitchen is big, and you are responsible for your own crockery so no dirty dishes. The dorms are small with ensuites, no dirty bathrooms or finding keys in the middle of the night. The dorms also have kitchenettes and TVs. No aircon, not really needed though. The common room is big, has cable TV and heaps of DVDs to borrow (no cost). It's 2 mins from the beach and 10mins walk (slowly) into town, or get a bus 2 stops. It's an older crowd, 20s ish mainly, less 'what a-levels did you do?' stories and more interesting chats.

Enjoy, and pay a week at a time, it gets booked up quickly.

Self contained units - a cut above any backpackers. No smoking no alcohol policy means no drunken behavior or smelly rooms. Free pick up fr ferry and drop off is great customer service. Cable TV, internet facilities, Backyard with BBQ facilities - more like home. Quiet so can have decent rest. Highly recommended.
