BUG Review
Annie’s Place offers very good value accommodation on a quiet street near the hospital south of the town centre. The hostel feels a bit worn out but it is clean enough for most travellers. Facilities include a basic kitchen (no oven), a TV lounge, laundry and a swimming pool; however the hostel’s best feature is the excellent bar that serves great value $5 meals. All the rooms are air-conditioned with TVs and most have en suite bathrooms.
Price Dorm bed $18 ($17 VIP) Double room $50-60 Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.

Quite liked this place, admittedly they were really pushy with the Mulga tour but we got that everywhere we went so you have to expect it at the end of the day! The Mulga tour was a blast and compared to other prices really cheap! Such a good time on this tour, really friendly mix of people. The hostel itself was a bit run down, my shower did not work, window was broken and it flooded the room, but it is all part of the experience of backpacking! $5 meals still going? They were a bargain and the bar was real good.
Cheap hostel: $16 for an 8 bed dorm, quite clean (very clean until some dirty backpackers came and made a mess of the bathroom), great $5 meals in the evening, free (basic) breakfast. The staff is nice and helpful, you really feel at home.Only 20 minutes from city centre.Mulga tour: great and again, a bargain ($250)
Pros:
The staff are soooo friendly and remebered my name
Cons:
Having to leave - honest

It was like flying business class. The bed was new and confortable. There was a divider between my bed and all the others. I was in my own little space I couldn't see anyone else I even had a little shelf and a bed side lamp. The bar and the five dollars meals - amazing. They picked me up from the airport and dropped me off. Nothing was any trouble, other hostels should come and look at this place. Ohh I did the Mulga trip too . Only $250. Cheers to Shawn. I had the best time.

If you intend to go on Annies Place Uluru tour then this is the place to be. Admittedly, the staff do tend to be pretty offish with guests not going on the Mulga tour (but it's excellent so there really is no excuse not to!). The bar next door is great, with super cheap meals. There seems to be two standards of room, try and stay in the newer 4 bed dorm, much cleaner than the 6 beds. Oh, and there's a swimming pool too!
Pros:
pool and bar
Cons:
dirty, unfriendly staff, far from towncentre

I don't understand why they call themselves the 'friendly backbacker hostel' As soon as the guy behind the counter found out I didn't want to go on the hostels Mulgas tour he became very very rude and unfriendly.
The room was dirty and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned for ages. Many people I stayed with had been bitten by bedbugs and wanted to leave as soon a possible. Go to the YHA instead, you pay a bit more, but it's a lot better !
