BUG Review
Alice Springs YHA is a nice hostel with a great location – it’s the most centrally located hostel in town. The hostel is built in an old outdoor cinema with common areas like the kitchen, dining room, internet access (including Wi-Fi $4 per hour/$15 24 hours; Global Gossip Connect) and TV lounge in the original building and newer purpose-built accommodation. It has a nice outdoor setting centred on a swimming pool. It is clean and well-maintained but the atmosphere can feel a bit dull.
Price Dorm bed $21.50-28 ($19-25 HI/YHA) Double/twin room $67 ($60 HI/YHA) Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.
Pros:
Clean, good location, plenty of places to sit outside
Cons:

I think my pros and cons summarise this place best. There were hardly any other residents at the time I was there (late September) so the atmosphere rating is probably inaccurate for busier times. I heard a lot of bad things about Melanka's, which is probably the most popular hostel in Alice, so it might be an idea to stay at Pioneer and frequent the Melanka bar. I'd stay here again.

pleasant place to stay convenient location, October 20, 2006
Great location for shops etc in Alice. Only hostel that don't offer free shuttles to/from the train/bus which is a fair walk or taxi fare.
Generally clean with good kitchen. Helpful staff on desk and useful luggage store when on tour.
