BUG Review
Mary River Roadhouse is the best value of the Kakadu hostels and it is just a couple of kilometres from the park’s southern entrance. However it is very basic with accommodation in air-conditioned pre-fabricated units like you find on a construction site. Atmosphere is almost non-existent and there isn’t much in the way of facilities but there is a swimming pool and small shop where you can buy food and drinks.
Price Dorm bed $17 Single room $30 Double/twin room $40 Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.
Pros:
Convenient location
Cons:
Okay if you don't mind Atco huts

Did a one night stay here enroute to Kakadu in mid 2004. Wished I'd know about the operators who are passionate ornothologists as they give specialised tours to see rare birds & have some species you can see in large cages. Didn't think much of the place but I was tired & trying to avoid hundreds of mossie bites. Accomodation was in Atco pre fabricated huts. If you like birds sort out a tour in advance & don't miss the Territory Wild life park outside Darwin as it has a great array of birds and many other fauna including a walk under croc display.
