BUG Review
Backpackers travelling through Katherine might end up spending the night at Palm Court, simply because the town doesn't have any alternatives - at the time of writing all other hostels were closed. Palm Court feels a bit shabby, the maintenance could definitely have been better, and the overall cleanliness is not exactly top-notch. However, you'll find most of the facilities a backpacker-place should have: kitchen, laundry, Internet access, book-swap. There's also a quite nice swimming pool area, with wooden seating and a BBQ. All the dorms have fridges, TVs and lockers.

Double 'motel' rooms are lovely, October 20, 2006

We were very confused by this hostel. We phoned 'Kookaburra' but ended up here?? We had a 'motel' room which was lovely - very clean and tidy with own kitchen and bathroom at a very reasonable rate. The rest of the hostel needs a little work - limited washing machines and the communal areas need work. If you stay in one of the motel rooms (some are 4/6 share dorms) then it is a good place to stay - not so sure about the main building!

OK but not one to go out of your way for, August 20, 2006

I turned up on spec and got the last bed available in the place - probably worth booking ahead if you're planning on staying here. The vast majority of people seemed to be workers rather than travellers. I stayed in 10 bed dorms with ensuite bathroom, which isn't a great idea with so many people - I ended up using a shared shower in another part of the building that had a good selection of cobwebs. The kitchen was rather small so got crowded quickly.

The staff were helpful and the other residents were friendly, but I probably wouldn't choose to stay here again.
