BUG Review
This hostel offers very basic accommodation in the original homestead that was established in 1916. Accommodation is in mostly small two-bed dorms although there are a couple of larger ones. Facilities include a laundry, limited kitchen facilities and a bar, restaurant and a shop. Camping is also possible at the homestead complex. It is 9km from Mataranka town and right next to Elsey National Park and only 100 metres from the thermal springs.
Price Dorm bed $19 Twin room $42 Camping $20-24 (for 1-2 people) Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.

Pros:
The BEST was for sure a thermal pond in real bush close by. We just loved the surrounding (and bats)
Cons:
Possibly just the fact that you are really at the very end of the road, nearly nowhere.We admired it

I am surprised that this is the very first review on Mataranka Homestead. I was there 4 yrs ago with my wife and since that time it has sticked in our memories that strong, that here, far away from it in Prague, we have been all the time thinking about the chance to repeat that experience and spend there a night on our way from Darwin again. Hoping this March we will find a room again and we will find Mataranka beauties (nearly) the same... ( < : )
