BUG Review
Beaches has a very lively bar packed with locals and travellers every night. Its location in the centre of town makes it a good meeting place and a convenient home base; but the dorms are sparse, some have bare kitchenettes and some have air conditioning. The kitchen is good size, well equipped and very clean. There is a big swimming pool, barbecue and pool tables. They have a great location and a good tour desk to book your trips. Internet costs $6 per hour. Reception staff can unfortunately be cold and unorganised.

I stayed in Airlie for a week on my way north. i found the staff to be really friendly and accomodating on arrival. every staff member i saw there said hello and gave us a big smile. Spoke to a bloke there called "Toddy" and he was only to happy to help us, on where to continue or night after being at Beaches. The atmosphere consumed us as we walked in the place, and found it hard to leave. Great to hear some old school music, as well as new stuff that i have not heard for a long time. seriously, if you go, and want to know anything about Airlie, talk to Toddy. Safe travels everyone

We stayed at Beaches two nights and had quite a few arguments with the staff during the time. To start with, they gave away our room which we booked 2 months in advance. Instead they wanted to put our group of 4 into separate rooms, so when we didn't like that, they put us in a "normally unused" private room.. which was excellent. Almost like a hotel.. one double bed and some bunkbeds, aircon, etc. The next morning they kicked us out and put us in another dorm (which turned out was actually more expensive than the room we stayed in previously). The showers are slippery, I bruised my leg pretty badly too! The main manager was professional and helpful, but all the other girls that worked there were horrible. They were unprofessional, they made faces at us, and they were unhelpful. If we needed sheets for our beds, they'd groan as they got them. Lazy. The bar downstairs is convenient, but expensive and pretty loud as well. It does not serve breakfast. The mattresses were thin so the beds were uncomfortable. There were ants all over our counter. The aircon in the dorm room was insufficient for airflow and it got really hot. Once the noise at the bar died down, we could open our balcony doors.. those were nice.

Stayed at this hostel for 3 nights. wasn't to bad but if you don't want to patry every night don't bother trying to sleep. some of the staff are really rude. I suggest going here for a drink but staying somewhere else.

I worked at beaches for 3 months and had the time of my life! Most of the people working there are travellers so are all friendly and up for a great time. The place is always clean and the rooms are cleaned daily no matter what anyone might think! Its pretty hard cleaning around 8 peoples belongings! I've stayed in too many hostels to mention but this was the place i wanted to stay and work and i wouldn't stay anywhere dodgy for 3 whole months! The bar goes off every night and is the best bar in Airlie by far! Trust me you will have a ball!

Beaches is by far the best hostel in Airlie Beach I was in Airlie for a week and it is def the best hostel I have stayed in so far on my travels. The rooms are clean with Tv and air-con and it is right in the centre of town. The staff are also really friendly and helpful. It also has a wicked bar which is always busy and serves good cheap food.

We booked a double room for four nights over the internet before we started travelling 3 months ago. Beaches no longer have the double rooms as they now belong to a different hostel, but the staff at Beaches refused to return our $20 deposit even tough they could only offer us a dorm room for the first night, then they would give us their one family room. Stayed one night in Beaches, just so we wouldn't loose our deposit. The room was large, but very dirty with toe nail clippings on the bedside table and an old razor left in the bathroom. Easily the worst hostel we have ever stayed at.

You will most likely be staying here before and after sailing the Whistsunday Islands. The rooms are good sized, all single beds (no bunks). The rooms are either doubles or 6 bed dorms (mixed). All rooms have balconies/patios', ensuite bathrooms, television, fridges and air conditioning. The bar at Beaches is an excellent to catch up with your friends with good meals served all day. The entertainment in the bar is quie poor. The reception staff are really friendly and helpful. The hostel has a small pool, internet access, large kitchen, laundry facilities and travel desk. The lagoon in Airlie Beach is only 50 metres across the road and the hostel is located right in the middle of the main high street with everything you need within a few metres! The best hostel in Airlie Beach.

I had a double here and it was clean, well air conditioned with a good bed. If you're booking a double, ask for one with a TV as they tend to be a bit bigger/nicer. Really good value for $50 as it's centrally located. Food is cheap and good at hotel bar too. Saw the shares and they looked quite good too.
