BUG Review
This is a spacious hostel has 115 beds in large dorms mostly for working holiday-makers. It is rather institutional and poorly-maintained and features a huge swimming pool, a bar, laundry, internet access ($4 per hour) and a barbecue, but there are mostly workers staying here, so the atmosphere is lacking. The bathrooms are not the cleanest, but the kitchen is large and well maintained.
Price Dorm bed $20 per night, $119 per week Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.
Pros:
the atmoshere ... and room 5 !!!
Cons:
zukinis ..... aaaaahhhhhh !!

When I arrived the hostel wasn't even finish ... but when I left (and thanks to the great work of some really helpfull backpackers ... thank u tom for the roof !!!) It was one of the greatest place I stayed in during my year trip in OZ. in between, I spend some unforgetable moments with the "fellowship of the delta" as we use to call it !!! tom, ciaran, daniel, franck, simon, jinu, zoro, jana ... and all the others but espacially u maree for making THE delta such a great place to stay !!! thank you, I will be back one day ... and will organize another beach party to remember !!

I arrived at the delta with $10 to my name. I planned to stay for a month or two to save up some money and travel again! I ended up staying nearly 4 months. I even left and came back again! The delta was the best hostel I stayed at. I had the best time and made some amazing friends who I am still in touch with now! I will never forget the beach parties, thursday nights at the pub and all those nights at the bar drinking! I was really shy and unconfident when I first started travelling but thanks to the great times at the delta I am no longer shy! Thanks guys for the good times! I will be back!!
Pros:
the staff is really nice, it's like a really big family
Cons:
kitchen sometimes too busy

hey - i just have to say - deltas is the place to be, i'm arrived in ayr totally broken, just fucken no money at all. but the staff and all the people are really helpfully, nice, kind and bloody funny!!!
had the best time in oz in deltabackpackers!! of cause the work sucks sometimes, but all the other people gonna help you to through the day's.
i spend fucking 6 month in ayr, left sometimes for little trips etc. but i always went back, didn't really metter how far i was away. if you don't waste your money so easaly like me, ayr could be a good place to save good money... i just loved it there.i only left because i almost became a lokal... and backpackers have to move in some point anyway.
right now i'm in new zealand, but on my way back to fucking old germany, i defnetly gonna stop in oz, wanna say hello and probably good bye to the staff.
looking forward to see you maree miss ya yo-yo
Pros:
great friends, they help you get work quickly, lots of fun.
Cons:
you sometimes have to wait for a shower after work...

I had an incredible time at the Delta in Ayr, it was one of the highlights of my trip. I've made life long friends and I made some good money to put toward my trip. The owners and managers of the Delta are wonderful, the facilities are great, and I was so happy being there. the harvest work is hard, but staying at the Delta makes it worth it.

I stayed at the Delta's for 5 weeks - you'll get everything you need on your working holiday over here: great friends, much work and good fun. The owners are incredibly friendly and supporting. They love their place and you'll be catched by the great atmosphere soon. Besides of getting work for you quickly they sometimes offer trips to the beach to enjoy the sun over the day and the bonfire-parties over night. Shops are around, there's a cinema next to the door - and I specially enjoyed my dive-trip to the Yongala (pick up from the hostel)! No reason to stay away: Almost everybody feels like home and they all say: "I had my best time over here!" So did I! :)

I stayed at the Delta for, i think, about 8 weeks and they were the best 8 weeks out of my whole year in Australia. Within a few days you feel like you are part of one big family. Everyboby there is so good to you and always willing to help you out.
The facilities are great... HUGE pool, bar, TV rooms and with extra day-trips to the beach, bonfire nights and checking out the sugar cane burnings you could almost forget the hard work you came to do in Ayr in the first place.
The hostel itself is centrally located, just a short walk to the shops and the cinema is just next door.
the Delta was my home away from home. If i didn't have to leave the country i would never have left.
Miss ye all, Will see ye soon... I Promise

well ive got 12960 characthers to describe the delta and to be honest you only really need 4 "home". i came to delta backpackers as a dirty traitor from another hostel in ayr and was instantly welcomed into the delta family. i spent many months at the delta and loved every minute, the staff were awesome the bar was cheap and, as the delta is a working hostel, the jobs were readily available. if i could go back to oz the delta is deffinately a place i would go back to!
