BUG Review
This hostel has spacious and well maintained dorms creatively decorated with music themes. The sleek, modern bar is a highlight, with a wraparound balcony (with marina view), a cinema screen and pool table. It can get very lively at night. They offer $5 meals for guests, a free beer on arrival and a half hour of free internet (otherwise $5 per hour). There are also loads of activities available every day including powerboat cruises and free sailing on Wednesdays. The kitchen could use an update, but otherwise this place is great.

A very cool hostel by far, ive stayed in alot of hostels around the world, and this is one of the relaxed hostels i've been too, location was out of town, but that was cool for me as i want to do water skiing and explore the islands, Moreton Island "rocked" we explored the island on the hostel ski boat very cool, they have a great bar there, probably one of the nicest bars ive seen in a backpackers hostel
internet access was available in the bar next door which was open most nights till 12 midnight and i could talk and have a drink while i was on line, that was cool " PROST !!"
.
looking forward to re visiting later on in the year !!
if your looking for a cool hostel and lots of fun, while your cruising through brisbane, come check out this place !!

Booked online in June 2006 for 7 nights all girls room with ensuite, and noted date and time that we would be arriving at Brisbane airport, (internet said the room was available for this time) as info advised they offered free pick up and drop off to airport.
We arrived 8.30am, had called to the back packers who said someone was on the way - no one ended up picking us up. Was there till 12pm then had to taxi there, as had no idea how to get to Morton Bay.
Staff were friendly and apologetic when we finally arrived, but didnt have any info about the booking details or how long we were staying as their internet service was down (the whole time i was there). Had to tell them what we had booked, someone else was in that room and had to be moved.
Paid a refundable bond for key to room and little storage locker situated in the hallway.
The room had 2 bunk sets and a double bed, fan on roof, and ensuite good amount of space for price. Shower was excellent pressure, so that was good.
Was really annoyed to walk into our room on the 3rd night to find a group of strangers in our room, and that all our stuff had been moved to another room without notice, or an ensuite, as i thought a booking fee meant we were paying to stay in that room for seven nights. The manager turned up the next day and suggested that he had told us previously that we were moving to another room, which he did not!
Staff came in and emptied bins, and vaccumed floor each morning.
They have activities noted on blackboard that are scduled for the week, but some of those were cancelled.
It was a place to stay that was tidy, handy to pay phone, supermarket, pub and bank. Kitchen alright, and if u enjoy watching sport on big screen, then u will enjoy. Parties/drinking most nights - so take ear plugs if u are a light sleeper.
Seemed like a lack of communication between manager and staff, otherwise it was good.

To say the least this is an unusual and individual hostel. It is very clean and tidy- with fines enforced for not washing up after yourself- but there is something different about it. The staff are helpful enough, even offering a shuttle bus for the half hour trip to the airport, but when I was there the manager was away and so none of the staff seemed to know who was booked into which room. It all seemed a bit disorganised.
It has been recently refurbished with all the rooms painted as a different style of music. So you have the heavy metal room, the blues and jazz room, the country room and so on and each of the beds in named after a star in that genre. Its different to say the least. This refurbishement must have been fairly recent as there are still pictures all over the floor.
If you book through Hostelworld.com you receive a free beer for the next door bar when you arrive. The communal area is well stocked with a big screen tv, Sky Sports for all the British football and plenty of videos and dvds.
If the staff had been more sorted out and the long-term residents hadn't gone around trying to steal other people's beer, this would have been a really good hostel. As it is its good but really unusual.

The hostel itself is very clean and tidy, and the common room is great as its got a huge tv, and internet access. The bathrooms and dorms are also very clean, and each dorm room has a musical theme name (e.g the jazz room, or the rock room), which was a nice touch. The English guy who was running the hostel was cool. He organised a bbq for the guests at the last minute, and was really friendly. The Swedish guy at reception (think he was Swedish!), was a bit of a tube though. He was obsessed with us paying more money, altho we had already paid it, and kept on going on about this during the bbq one night. "Shut the hell up! we're trying to enjoy ourselves!"
He then proceeded to make smarmy comments, for example, "The money you paid for the bbq doesnt involve us cleaning up after u".The hostel is miles out of the centre of Brisbane, so if u dont like things too quiet, id suggest not staying here. But if u want to relax, this hostel is ideal.

Stayed three nights here and really enjoyed it. Clean, airy and relaxed. Two minutes from Moreton Bay and millions of dollars worth of boats...amazing. Great place to kick back and relax with a watering hole over the road and lots of cafes. Went exploring along the waterfront and then up into Wynnum (about 10 minutes walk) found a bead shop on the terrace (hi girls!) and awesome views...we will be back.
