BUG Review
This place is in a large brick building with a wraparound veranda. It caters mostly to workers, so there is really no atmosphere here. There is internet access and a barbecue, both of which don't seem to get much use. The small kitchen gets very messy, as does the bathroom. The hostel is quite compact and stuffy inside with flaking paint and old, dirty beds. Management help to organise work, but tend to be very impatient. They also manage the Bus Stop backpackers.

When I arrived in bundaberg I had trouble finding a place to stay... all hostels were booked out, this was the only one available. At first the owners seemed nice and the hostel appeared to be a nice enough place. I checked in and went to my room it was a 6bed dorm which was tiny. There was about 2ft between the bunk beds. I however didnt mind as all I wanted was a place to put my head after a days harvest work(provided by the hostel). Within 2hours I had met some of the people staying there and all of them said the same thing... it was horrible and as I soon discovered it was not as nice as I'd first thought. The hostel is over run with bed bugs. When I informed reception they said they would spray it on monday (this being a friday I was concerned) they implied it was my fault "sitting on your bed in dirty work clothes" was apparently the cause. When I tried to explain that I'd never come across bed bugs before and therefore they were there in the room before I arrived they just said fine not really listening to me, so on the monday they sprayed the room with a Flea Bomb.... this did not only fail to kill them but also bring them out of hiding, I ended up with more. Not once did they apologise, offer to clean my clothes or take money off rent for the inconvienience after 3 days there my backpack was covered so much you could no longer tell what color it was. I then discovered they are in all the common rooms and the only way to kill them is steam. To my knowledge they still have bed bugs 3months later. The kitchen is small but fairly decent apart from the lack of pots, no oven and 90 people all trying to cook at the same time but thats what you expect in a hostel really. I found that the best part of the hostel was the people I met while staying there the saying of "if I didn't laugh I'd cry" was passed around alot in order to keep everyone going. Honestly Ive proberly stayed in worse places but they could do so much better with the potential the place has.... If only the Owners didnt treat the people staying as numbers (I think they just see $$$ running around) it would be a decent place to stay
