BUG Review
Dreamtime is a small, relaxed hostel with a friendly atmosphere. The dorms are eccentrically decorated with stained glass, bright paint, and artwork adorning the walls. They are all air conditioned, and some have en suite bathrooms. On site is the new Café Melt, which has a groovy ambience and cheap but good quality food and drinks. The swimming pool is small but clean; same with the kitchen, but the common areas are quite convivial. There are laundry facilities, a tour desk and internet access, including Wi-Fi ($4 per 2 hours). Management and staff are extremely pleasant and friendly.

We were travelling for 9 months and this is by far the best hostel we stayed at. We had a double bed and a huge balcony at the back of their house we shared with another couple! The dorms were also clean and tidy! We came here twice and stayed a huge amount of time! Chris & Amanda are great with booking tours and there BBQs are the best! Miss it so much,Steph & Ben

The hostel was clean and the 3-bed dorms were a welcome novelty, but unfortunately my dorm was right next to the common area, and the "quiet" period from 11PM wasn't enforced - quite possibly because one of the reception staff was partying with the other guests. Not that I was going to bed that early, but it was irritating that people were still making a lot of noise at 3AM. There was no aircon in the dorm and the fan's two speeds were either a snail's pace or so fast as to create a tornado of any paper in the room. The place was also a little too far from the city centre for easy access, though that was my own fault for not checking that beforehand. I would not stay here again

The hostel is a good place to relax, in the hammock at the pool. The guys at the reception are very helpful concerning tour bookings. There is free luggage store as well.
The double/twin are 50§ now.

Dreamtime was by far the best hostelling experience i had during my month-long backpacking trip through New Zealand and Australia. The managers Chris and Amanda were so friendly and helpful, and set a great tone for the space as a whole. The rooms were very clean and spacious (i stayed in a 3 person dorm room), and the overall feel of the hostel was warm and cozy. I almost felt like I was staying in a tropical bungalow with a super-cute bathing pool and a family of fellow travellers.
The people that Dreamtime seems to attract as guests are cream of the crop. I was in disbelief as to the friendliness of everyone I met there. And the friday night barbecue served as a great opportunity for me to get to know everyone better and make plans with them to embark on other fun Cairns-based adventures.
If I ever come to Cairns again, I'm definitely planning on staying at Dreamtime.

Where do I start this was my first hostel that I have ever stayed in and WOW what an expereince. These guys know how to run a fantastic hostel. The place ozzes charm and hospitality. From the pick up at the airport to arranging my travel plans these guys have it all. The place is clean, the rooms are fully linened even with fluffy towels. The pace has a great vibrance to it and is also close enough to all facilities required. Amanda & Chris who manage the hostel are friendly relaxed and can never do enough to make your stay more plesaurable. Thanks guys for welcoming me and making my australian trip awesome. Good luck with the new Cafe and internet lounge ( GREAT IDEA )
