BUG Review
Global Palace is a large, modern and stylish hostel with a great ambience. The air-conditioned dorms have single beds, though some of them have badly stained carpets. There is a fully-equipped kitchen and a nice dining area on a wide veranda overlooking the main square in town. There is also a TV lounge with nice black leather couches and a pool table plus a rooftop swimming pool with sun lounges, a barbecue and bamboo furniture. Downstairs there are shops, a massage salon and an inexpensive sushi restaurant. It is right the heart of the city near just about everything and has a convivial atmosphere. Reception staff are for the most part friendly.
Price Dorm bed $26-27 ($25-26 VIP) Double room $56 ($55 VIP) Twin room $54 ($53 VIP) Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.
Pros:
If you want a terrible weekation, this is the place for you.
Cons:
That they throw away their guests luggage and make them feel that it's their fault.

I took a Advance Course at Pro Dive last week. Before I came to Cairns I was recommended to stay at Global Palace Backpackers as stated as one of your accomendation suggestions. I had a very unfortunate stay at Global Backpackers which yesterday decided to throw all my luggage in the rubbish bin. I question the practises of such a place that treat people luggage as trash. They refused to give me my money back for the stay at their hostel. I had a talk with a journalist today from Cairns Post and the case is going to end up in the newspaper tomorrow. Please do not recommend Global Palace Backpackers as it is the most run down accomandation in Cairns. It's anything then clean and they have the most incompetent staff I have ever met.CheersJohan Sydseter
