BUG Review
This old hostel is a bit rough around the edges, although it has a fair amount of charm. The air-conditioned dorms are spacious with comfortable beds and the kitchen is old but has two ovens and plenty of pots and pans. There is an excellent swimming pool and barbecue area where they host free barbecues, as well as free evening meals. Under the house is a TV lounge with some dusty furniture and a small TV which does not look very inviting, so the atmosphere here is not as convivial as the others.

We stayed here in Jan 2004. I was actually in Cairns hospital, and my girlfriend arrived at 11pm at night, with no hope of getting a room. Not only did she get a room, but a free upgrade to a motel room! The hospitality and generosity, of the staff was unmatched in any hostel we have stayed in Australia (20+). The hostel is exceptionally clean, has great showers, free meal tickets, good kitchen, internet, barbecue area, pool, friendly atmosphere, and is in a really central location. All this for a great affordable price. We can't recommend this place enough!

The INN the city hostel is the best place to stay in Cairns. It's 3 min. walk to the city place and 5 min. to the next Woolworths. The rooms are clean, the beds new. Air Con in every room, TV nearly in most. Kitchen is big and very well equipment. There's also a big garden (with BBQ area) and very nice Pool. You get Vouchers for good and cheap dinner. The stuff is also very friendly and gives good rates on rented cars.INN the city was my home in Australia
